the love for the game
Ever loved something so much you could travel 1000 km?
Ever loved something so much you could cry if something went wrong?
Ever loved something so much you put it ahead of anything else?

Ironically, Im not talking about QW, but about the love for my football team, Malmö FF!
or, am I?
I still remember the day I fell in love with MFF.
The year was 95-96 and Mff was playing vs our rivals, Helsingborg IF (HIF).
They were leading 0-2 but we came back and won 4-2 with Daniel Andersson and Yxel Osmanovski scoring 2 goals each and both getting sold after that game to Bari.

I still remember the game 2 seasons ago vs Häcken (Gothenburg), were I traveled several miles to see my team loose 1-0 vs a mediocre team and had to find a girl for the night just to get back my mood for living

Tough words, but thats the love you got for your team.
I basically live, drink, cheer, cry and even sleep with my team. I am MFF, I am my team.
Its not only the passion for the game (football) but its the passion for the team, it becomes more important than my life, because life itself is MFF.

hehe, am I beeing abit too deep in a Quakeworld-blog?
I think that my love for MFF or for football is the same as ppl have towards QW.

We spend our time on the servers, day in and day out to have some joy.
Fight before games about ping. Argue about minor stuff in the rules just so the game gets more perfect, why is that?
I believe its the love for the game, the same kind of love I have for MFF.

Damn Kevin Costner and his movie (Love of the game) about a baseball player. That should be our slogan.
Quakeworld - The love of the game.

Why do we love it so much when there are newer and more improved games.
The developers behind the future games want to attract us to Q4, UT2k7 (?) WOW and the list goes on forever, but how is it that we are still here, talking about the same old game from 1996(7)?

A couple of nights ago, I joined an Hungarian server for a mix game and they changed the map from dm3 to dm2 (WTF!?!?) so I dropped, hihi.
Now, I love the game, so it shouldn't matter what map I play, but I still only love to play dm3 when it comes to mix games, is that wrong aswell?
Would I hate football if it was played in rain and cold weather instead of warm-sunny-brazilian-samba weather?

Those are hard questions to ask yourself but you should do it, look at the other side of the ocean and learn why they love this game in different environment (surroundings).

Kenya-maps is the beginning for me, setting up a server with only kenya maps, adding a once-per-2-week kenya tourney (King of Tuesday Kenya) is my contribution to this side of the ocean. Im not joining a server and playing a random kenya map yet, but Im entering the tourney and at least trying out this side of the ocean.

So the question on top.. ever loved something....

Yes, I think I can add QW to that list with MFF.

The future is not saying were my team is heading, to Champions league or to division2. Its the same with QW, but we can help, we can get it to the right direction.
I will never say QW is dead, QW will live with me even if I stop playing it.

Now the hitbomb of this article, try to look at other peoples point of view of this game, why do they love arena, ffa, tricks, kenya, tf, 1on1, 4on4 ...
Try it out and look at the other side of the ocean.

- For the Love of the game

according to Wikipedia: Malmö FF is the only Swedish team that played a UEFA Champions League final (former European Cup) in '79 against Nottingham Forest (0-1). also they have a nice set of achievements in Sweden. nice, nice..

my favorite team, Steaua Bucharest, is the only Romanian team to have won UEFA CL in '86 against FC Barcelona (2-0 at penalty shootout, the keeper Helmuth Duckadam saved all 4 penalty kicks.. this still is a world record i guess ) and lost the '90 final against AC Milan 4-0
