Just been watching trailors for valves revamp of TF, looks like they've done a cracking job. Cell shading, cartoony feel but with all the content I loved from the first incarnation, worth a look... Small teaser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaF638MBSAE If you have steam you can download all the trailors no fuss, be nice if you could take on xbox joypad llamas

ive got the feeling that Team Fortress Forever will be better. Looks nice and quick with bunnyhopping - much more like QWTF.

i have the High Definition version of the trailers and if the game really looks this way.. it's pure genious (unless the gameplay is really, really bad)

LOL @ baseball bat! Nice to see that the scout is still super duper fast although there is no bunnyhopping. All that extra animation (like spy flipping his knife open) is nice to watch but damn it gets annoying in the game if you can't use the weapon immediately when you get it in your hands. I'm still pretty sure there will never be as enjoyable TF as QWTF is. The best Team Fortress is still the first one. Why? Because it's on QW engine. And you know what that means... :rolleyes:Makkara ja muusi, siivoappas suusi. Oon vähän *diun daun*[url=http://www.anttituisku.fi/ke

Over at http://newsninja.bur.st and probably on other sites they've extracted the commentary subtitle text where one of the devs/designers say that they decided to exclude grenades cos it makes it too spammy and lessened the differentiation between classes. Seems valid to me, though it will be difficult to adjust to.

i heard theres no grenades in it. therefor it cant be good you mean: therefore it will be different. (btw if you watch the soldier class trailer he mentions grenades) QWTF, HL:TF, Q3TF, ET:TF were all about air control + grenade boosting. don't you think this is getting really really really OLD by now? anyway i wish the class system to really count this time and make people having to learn and master each class in a different way (different movement sets & tactics for each class)

It's out (in beta form). Anyone got a mini-review/opinions?
My current laptop specs suck too much to play at the moment, hopefully will give it a crack on saturday.

my opinion, it's very DULL. and i agree with the following: They should have made bunnying a server option... ...without advanced movement and no apparent skills that other FPS don't already have in spades I see very little medium or long-term appeal in this, especially for competitive clan gaming.
It's very pretty, maybe someone will take the great visuals and well designed simplicity and apply some speed and skill on top, this is overdesigned to appeal to newer and console-level players without offering anything for people who stick with it. It Takes A Tough Man To Make A Tender Rocketjump

I'm on the "beta" if you can call it that. For some reason I really like the game, just don't expect anything like qwtf. There's no grens, no hopping, no real ctf and theres a respawn delay. The game is pure eye sex, if you disagree you are a complete moron and should be removed from the face of planet to prevent breeding. It could be a short term love for me, but I kinda like TF2.
Sure as I spawn in 15 secs later after dying and run slowly towards the capture point (cause no engi has built a teleporter to the front line) I may grumble abit and miss my hopping. Or when there's 4 enemies sitting on a capture point in small room, I do miss my hand grenades. But it makes up with good primary weapons, I like the rocket launcher (I feel naked without a decent one, eg TFC, FF) it bounces well and has good speed compared to the enemies (its no quake rl though)
There's a lot of people running round as spies (you'll get used to been knifed in the back) and alot of hvy wp guys with medics healing them (fear the assualt cannon). Fear a good player with a scout for that matter, that damn scatter guns nasty at close range
The medic makes the game in some ways and the scattered health packs and ammo round the maps (there's no armour, just health for characters). Its nice to get some medic - soldier/hvy/demo action going. You killing, while the medic heals you. I spent most of my time using the soldier so far, but have tested out the other characters. The pyro may need some tweaking but i'll need more play time to decide. The scouts double jump (Xain'd Sleena style) is interesting, I need more time with the scout, but you can change directions with the jump. EG if your jump forward "w" then midair you jump again left "a" your jump direction changes to the left instantly. You can even jump forward off a platform shoot someone down below, then back and jump midair and reverse back onto the platform.
There's alot of little things I like too, changing class instantly in the respawn room without dying (or going back into the respawn room and changing class instantly without dying). Seeing a friendly spy disguised, he basically has a cut out cardboard mask of the class he's imitating.
Like I said theres no ctf except for 2fort5, which I feel is the weakest map. Hydro and gravel pit probably the most fun maps to play. I dunno I just like the game its quick, easy, pretty fun, but its no qwtf.
EDIT: Its like messing around with teenage girl, its good looking, fun to play with, but you might get bored with it after a while(or not)

cool to see a balanced opinion and not the usual "OMG ITS NOT LEIK QWTF! SUX!1"

yeah if i wanna play qwtf i play qwtf.
...on the fortress note, FFs better than TFC (not saying much) with no speed wall to hit, it just pulls you back to the speed cap. Unfortunately the speed limits pretty low you can get to like 300 as a soldier, more on slopes and from rj but it pulls you back to 300 after a couple of hops. Its a shame they should of capped it higher like 400 or something for soldier.
