Most files were deleted due to an accident (I screwed up the script so everyone could delete files, apparently some kiddies using 62.163.xxx.xxx, 72.232.xxx.xxx and 74.86.xxx.xxx did so). As this is a mostly unmaintained archive there were no backups. I am very sorry. Guess I will have to find something better for the uploading. Suggestions for php or perl scripts are welcome. EDIT: Edited specific ip-addresses. These can't be published. // Renzo

wow- that's a bit of a shock. if someone found out about a security problem and decided to wreck the archive just for the fun of it.. that's a very asshole-ic thing to do.
makes me sad for the loss (for all of us). what can we do to help, Spirit?

If anyone safed all the deathmatch maps, that would be awesome. I guess that was the biggest loss here. And I haven't found a backup yet (oh wait, now that I am writing it I remember some dvd). edit: Ok, I found a backup from 15 months ago that contains most of the maps. I now have a full backup at home (which I update every week) and weekly "remote" backups.

someone wants qw to die.
conspiracy theories anyone? perhaps the us government is behind the attacks?
good thing you had a backup. it would be very typical qw if you didn't.

good thing you had a backup. it would be very typical qw if you didn't. This is not a conspiracy as such... More like facts, perhaps. Maybe even the truth, in some degree... The ones behind this is of course ID Software. They want us to stop playing this freeware game and start buying their new games. If you don't see more on the server anymore after reading this, you know what has happened... The Turtle Moves!

This conspiracy theory is a conspiracy theory.

Actually it was Hillary Clinton's fault.
empezar: Well, the 15 months old starting point of the dm map folder does not exactly count as backup. I am QW! :p

I guess you guys know about this link:
http://quake.phoenixlabs.org/maps/qw/maps/
I don't think there are all the maps, but it may contain some missing ones.

I believe I downloaded all maps from Quadicted, not sure about shub-hub! https://tinyurl.com/qwbrasil - QuakeFiles

Yeah, I already uploaded all those dm maps from 15 months ago. For the others I won't invest any time as I hope that maps.qw.nu will arise any time this year... *cough*

Last month set the new traffic record with almost 700GB transfered. A good 90% of it are Rygel's huge texture packs... Impressive!

request on the shub hub: a separate folder in "maps_multiplayer" containing map packs and a description (containing the name of the maps) for each of them. and why bother, you ask. Well, its very annoying for server admins to download each map separately and besides each and every one of them is zipped. The true question is, which maps in which map packs. Imho, 3 map packs are enough: duel, 4on4 and tricks/misc. only the most common ones, but not 3 or 4 maps. say, 10 maps for duel, 5 for 4on4, and 10 for tricks/misc. Im sure you can figure out which. This would reduce time on setting a new server.
Btw, where is the fotw archive? never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

Go ahead bundling and uploading whatever mappacks you like (include the textfiles...). I will not add a sub-directory though. Doesn't Renzo's server package contain the usual maps? http://qw-dev.net/ is broken at the moment.
Frag of the week: http://shub-hub.com/fotw2007/ sadly were lost in the great meltdown. You could nudge Xantom to upload them again. http://shub-hub.com/fotw2008/

Well, its very annoying for server admins to download each map separately and besides each and every one of them is zipped. It would be good - I have no idea what maps are on my server - just default install. I guess all the popular maps are there but it would be good imo to have a big fat rar :-)

I'm looking for another file which was probably lost in the crash, Orion's grunt vwep mod. It used to be here:
http://shub-hub.com/files/mods_multiplayer/vwep.zip
Maybe someone still has it? The Remake project would be in your debt...

How much traffic does it use per month? I might (please notice the "might" be able to sort something out.

From spirits link "If you kick off Rygel’s stupidly huge texture compilations, traffic will be <100GB month, "

I have no idea about the "true" traffic as the webserver logs are utter garbage (especially when people use "download accelerator tools" . Something about 300GB would be realistic (when keeping the textures) I guess.

Use http://www.quaketastic.com/ Same password as the Shub-Hub had. Most links to the Shub-Hub should still work, if you miss a file, message me.

Willem is a professional game developer who got into Quake "recently". He donated 33% of the Shub-Hub's costs last year. http://wantonhubris.com is his site. tiddles: You should drink less.
