What files do I need and where should I place them to make my Quake look like in the movie? I heard the skins were 24bit and not supported by ezQuake. time to tell everyone what you use, textures, models etc to get your QW to look like that nylon

Here comes the brutal, shocking truth. As you've all become used to.
The movie lacked in certain areas. The content was not at all on par with, say, QuakeWorld Delusions. The credits were FAR too long, you could've cut them to 20 seconds without anyone complaining. The panning intro was well executed, but it was still a godawful panning intro displaying all the things we already know so well (bet you have a slight idea of what RA looks like after 10 years of Quaking). And what the fuck was all the advertising about?
But.
Apart from these flaws, this is a major step for QW movie making. I daresay this is one of the most impressive movies I have ever seen. The reasons are obvious;
- excellent camming - incredibly smooth motion - very good editing (the camera glass shattering, syncing, multi-view part of the movie).
Plus, I really liked the soundtrack. It created a sort of drive throughout the entire movie, almost like I was being propelled forward by force. The whole movie had a very solid feel to it. Hard to describe but I'm sure you understand what I mean. More Trent for the people.
All in all, an excellent achievement. 4/5! Teamplay is nothing. Aim is everything. OBEY YOUR AIM

i agree with most of that ui but i do believe it was just as much a promotional movie for camquake as it was a movie and like someone said earlier maybe a little too much promotion. But i can explain one thing: And what the fuck was all the advertising about? If you look at all the other competition movies on the site they all start with the adverts, so obviously a requirement to being entered. Actually knowing that, nylon has shown those adverts in his own way, instead of all the others just showing the logos at start (nylon made muh_pad on dm2 a tvscreen with ads on for those who havent seen it yet - as if).

The movie did its purpose, and that was to show "camQuake" but other than that, it was not entertaining. Nothing seemed original (but it is hard to be original these days), frags lacked, boring intro.
Good editing kyon
Hope to see something done with camQuake.

I thought Nylon made that NIN mix by himself.
As for the advertisements, I stand informed and would like to withdraw that part of my whining. Teamplay is nothing. Aim is everything. OBEY YOUR AIM

i'm still busy atm, not beeing able to do stuff on my comp right now.. cfgs etc will follow.. I thought Nylon made that NIN mix by himself.
As for the advertisements, I stand informed and would like to withdraw that part of my whining. my mix? not really, the song used is a mix of "where is everybody" (originally on "the fragile" taken from the "things falling apart" remix album. i actually just edited some stuff and cut out a big part (position about 2:36-40), since is didnt want to have a "singing part" during the movie.. and some minor copying of plain parts as well to extend the shortend version that way.. thats why i called it "nyls cut" for the ads.. those were really bugging me in the beginning.. but now after, i'm quite okay with the result, since jogi did an excellent job with his 'avi playback on textures' and i was able to fit those in, without just letting them pop in and out fullscreen.. @OrGg check here for infos on the remix album.. track no. 7.

thx a lot to all u guys! :> without the community kyu.one never would have made first place!!! (the q3 movie 'seido' had a slight better shot from the judges ) thx for voting!! and at this point i'd like to mention my m8 'son'! i prolly never would have started making this movie without him! additionally all of the config testing i did had to pass his quality check, which made the final result as good as it is right now! thx dude! and foo shoo jogi once again.. without him and camquake kyu.one wouldn't have made it this far! :b plus tuna, providing me with encoding infos, hints and my own tool ! (h264 stream site will be up soon) (this sounds like the oscars?!?! ) anyway... check first post for download links to several stuff like textures etc i used for the movie! :>
