If you were helping a player who had played online fps games before but was new to qw get setup, what client would you recommend to them?

I'll be interested to see the results as I debated this with friends earlier.

Erm. I would recommend a complete package (fQuake) and if he would like an upgrade i'd just go for the latest version of ezQuake. Why would anyone want to recommend fuhquake to a newbie!?

i agree with you both, and i have already recommended he use ezquake, but a few friends strongly disagreed and said fuhquake would be better cos then "he won't get bogged down and confused with all the features and cvars".

Just wanted to see what the consensus was on this. PLEASE KEEP ADDING TO THE POLL AND POSTING

It's not like he _has_ to use all the stuff that's in ezQuake. I reckon it's quite easy to get a decent setup once you get to know the cfg_save and cfg_load command by browsing the docs and stuff. If i were a newbie i would probably think it would be quite interesting to soon move on to the next level and explore the not so useful but still very cool stuff for a newbie.

Definitely ezQuake as it is in active development and narrowing "user friendlyness" the most (say serverbrowser).

I voted fuhquake, it's easy to start with, ezquake is probably more fun when he's played it for a while

fuhQuake, if I wanted to have a game console in a QuakeWorld client I'd buy an XBOX really

I would recommend eQuake. You know - bots, fuhquake, configs, models, textures, simple textures, maps, tutorials etc. in one package.
I voted for fuhquake, ezQ is more difficult to begin with. And when you have fuhq config you can always port it to ezQ.

ezQuake is the only alternative <3. And to make it simple, install eQuake-package before installing ezQuake.
