Quakes 10th anniversary is closing in and over at QuakeDev people are discussing of holding Qexpo this year and break the 2 year " break" tradition. As many of you also know, I will not be at the helm for this Qexpo. It's a position I enjoyed immensely, but it's the tradition that it be passed on. We are, therefore, looking for someone to lead Qexpo in this aniversary year.
I'd like to begin discussions for it early this year, as last year much was done at the last minute. If a leader can be decided upon early enough, it's perfectly possible to have the qexpo set up well in advance. I myself have a great idea and Im currently working on it, though its only for europeans  What do you want to contribute to your favorite game the past 10 years? A little bump for QExpo news if it wasnt known over here already, QExpo 2006 will take place July 17th till 27th, with the 22nd being the central date as it is the 10th anniversary of the release of registered Quake. It is more than likely going to be hosted by Echon at Quakedev.com and I will be the master of ceremonies. SantaClaws will be doing the php once again, to make the booth system operate even more smoothly.
I hope to see more players attend this years expo, and people playing Quake in celebration of what has made Quake great these 10 years, and all the releases and previews at QExpo to continue to make it the greatest game for the next 10 years! A celebration of our consistently swelling potential as a community, rife with creativity, competition, and plenty of gibbing. Inside3d.com - Because you can't be outside 3d!

Last year, as far as I could tell, few players were aware of or participated in Quake Expo (Trinca had a booth about waypoints, I can't remember any other non-developer). I know no one ever told me about QuakeExpo, I stumbled in on it at QuakeDev, which I only discovered due to the Quake Retexturing Project's site being hosted there.
Doesn't have to be a mod or engine. Quake movies, Quake cartoons, drawings, etc. Any other Quake creations.
The one and only true Quake WILL be heard from this July. -------- Is that a roll of toothpicks in your pocket or are you just happy to see Sassa?

Maybe they'll be some clarification on what is/is not QExpo material. I thought I read that somewhere, though. -------- Is that a roll of toothpicks in your pocket or are you just happy to see Sassa?

so what can the qw community do to participate (beside giving the maps and mods another chance)? run regular qw matches and competitions! maybe also on custom maps/mods that are usually not played often. i would really like to see some qw at qexpo, too.
