This guide is meant to provide an alternative for the bootable QWCD project (which is pretty much dead).
It contains instructions about installing a highly customizable operating system along with your Quake setup on a USB flash card/memory stick.
Advantages (besides portability):
- read/seek speeds are faster for USB flash cards than for CDROMs
- changes can be saved and files can be modified on a USB flash card
- the USB memory stick has a very small power consumption and it is ideal for use with laptops (instead of an internal hard disk), therefore extending battery life
