we were trying to record a new overkill.qwd with 32 players and rate 100000 (to get a smooth demo), but it was really hard to gather 32 people on one server, and mvdsv/ktpro didn't support 32 players in being in the same room.

pity...

fbca support 32 players in same room?

the problem with using bots is you cant tell them not to stand in the darkness and shoot boomstick (which doesn't eat up your fps as much as sng/lg), real people run around and use the weapons you tell them to. that way you also get a demo that doesn't really look like an fps demo but a real game demo, which is more fun.

i could try to make a bot demo with 32 players, but i dont think its possible

All the relevant info is in the screenshot.

This is my playing setup and I'm standing on top level of dm4 looking down at the bridge I get 730fps

Anisotropic filtering is 8x. (gl_anisotropy 8)

timerefresh: 12633 fps - with a playable setup, not viewsize 1 and for 1
movie.cfg fps.qwd: 157 fps
play.cfg fps.qwd: 605 fps

But would be more fun if we all used the same .cfg like a preset from ezQuake or something

Heh, people are still using my dm2 bigroom benchmark demo? The 'l33t' nicks were a parody we used especially for this fun 'UKPL' league btw, 3v3v3v3v3 dmm3

Thing is at the time I recorded it (2000) most people were running software qwcl with p2/p3 class cpus (this was before new clients with fullbright skins in GL etc). I'd noticed on my old Celeron 300A @ 472.5 that fps sometimes would drop under 72 in bigroom down to like 60 or whatever. So in prewar with glowing players I figured it would be even worse and decided to try and make a new benchmark demo that would actually test 'modern' systems rather than the classic overkill.qwd from the 90s. When people said 'my system gets constant 72fps in qw' I'd use this to prove them wrong Essentially I wanted something to represent the 'worst case' scenario rather than your usual timedemos where the average looks fine because it's biased upwards by running around narrow corridors with not a lot happening.
