CAL the Cyberathlete Amateur League, affiliated with www.thecpl.com is considering making a Quakeworld league but at the moment is not sure because it is not known how many people would actually play in it. There is a topic in their forums right now that an admin is waiting to see how many replies to that topic are interested Quakeworld players that would like to play. Right now, I am not currently aware of any big American Quakeworld leagues. It is also possible that CAL would make a euro league as well. You do have to register an account to even read the forums in CAL. If this happened, it would be a good thing as more new players would get into Quakeworld and add to the popularity at least a little bit. I want this game to be as popular as possible and delay the steady decline as much as I can. I wish I got into this game much earlier =/

this is a great opportunity to promote QW, since CAL has a good exposure even if it's backed by lame CPL go for it people!

Fuck, i can't even figure out how to register on their own site. Besides, what do they have to offer that we don't have? What kind of publicity? I never read of any leagues that are CAL hosted by the CPL anywhere. I'll go on trying to create my account and join the discussion though.
Edit Ok, you first have to register on the main CAL website and THEN on the forum. One and a half step too much. :p www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

Sure it's big but if you look at their forums you notice that 98% of the posts are made in forums where the player would probably never even try CS. It's different flavours of CS, America's army, CoD and Warcraft. I really think they should do a tournament there, but it should be arranged in North America as they are lacking tournaments anyway and CAL is probably a more known "brand" over there. www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

it doesnt take long at all. seriously though, this would be very good for quakeworld. America needs a big league, and europe can get another league. Not to mention CAL is a big league that will get a bunch of new players to try quakeworld, all of which this community wants and needs. Not doing this simply because of the registration process is ridiculus.
