If you are upgrading from a previous beta zelTF release, the best thing to do would be to backup your /fortress/maps and /fortress/textures folders, remove the previous zelTF, install the new one, and copy back your maps and textures. This is suggested as zelTF 1.3 has way less maps than the beta build.
From now on any updates should be easier to apply with a patch.
- Improvements on 1.2 (test version) are mostly bug fixs, readme update and a few config changes. Easier to set video options.
- Includes 1on1r

ZelTF v1.1 beta 2
=================
This is still a beta version, there are bugs. If you come across any bugs that I don't have listed in known bugs, then let me know, either at the official ZelTF forum entry at qw.nu: http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1905
About
=====
Team Fortress v1.0 was released on July 25th, 1996. Since then it not only quickly became an internet gaming phenomena but inspired a genre and took the gaming world by storm. More than 10 years has passed since the first release and the game is still being developed and updated. Why? To those who've come to know and love it, it is simply the greatest game ever made. Unfortunately in many places across the world the community has begun to die out. Many of the original players who were in their late teens or early 20's in 1996, are now past that (highly fun) phase of life. Worst of all until today it has been near impossible for a newbie to come along and play. With 10 years of developement, getting the game to run as it should with all the latest bells and whistles was a vastly difficult and time consuming process. Today everything changes. With the release of ZelTF, anyone can download, install and play the original and best Team Fortress with the click of the mouse, and be setup with all the latest and greatest gfx and configs, so that from day 1 you will be able enjoy the fastest team based game on earth.
Why QWTF?
=========
QWTF is the fastest team based game on earth. It is the original TF mod, and it has had years to be developed to where it is today, with todays graphics and gameplay being superior to many of the games subsequent releases on various engines. It is amazingly fast and intense, with teamplay being the over-riding factor deciding victory or defeat, and best of all, it's 100% free.
Installation and Playing
========================
Download and install the ZelTF_11.exe
Before you can play you MUST set your name in the config file. To do this open notepad, and open ZelTF/fortress/fortress.cfg. Click edit -> replace. Find $name and replace ALL with whatever name you would like to use in the game. If you want fancy characters in your name, you can use the quake name builder at http://hosted.planetquake.gamespy.com/quake_names/
To change other settings such as invert mouse, sensitivity and field of vision, click the Settings shortcut in the ZelTF program menu. If prompted open in notepad.
To begin playing, Open the program, click multiplayer, click sources and select Team Fortress. Then click servers and press space to refresh server listing. However, most of todays games of Team Fortress are organised first in an irc channel. These games are called pugs (8v8+) or quads (4v4-), where one side attacks and the other defends for a set amount of time, before swapping.
To use irc, download mIRC: http://www.mirc.com/ This will allow you to chat and play with other Team Fortress players. For a list of Quakeworld Team Fortress irc channels go to: http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1926

Communication
=============
Communication is an essential part of any team game. For best results I recommend downloading TeamSpeak http://www.goteamspeak.com/ so that you can speak with your team mates. This wont always be possible however so some advanced communication scripting has been included. All communications are done via the numeric keypad. Press / if you're attacking and * if you're defending. Try the different numbers and buttons to see what they do. Especially insert, plus, enter, 7, 8 & 9.
More to come...
How to play / Tips and Tricks
=============================
Bunnyhopping - Most movement in the qwtf world is done in a bunnyhopping motion. This is the feature that gives the game its distinct and unique, yet extremely fast gameplay. To execute the bunnyhop, you first walk forward, and then jump, whilst in the air release the forward button, take your thumb off, and then put back on the jump button, so that when you hit the ground you are holding jump again. You will sort of, bounce, without losing any speed. You then repeat this process over and over and you should travel in a straight line without any decrease in speed. Thats all good and well, but you want to gain speed, so whilst bunnyhopping use the strafe keys in combination with the mouse to curve around. You want to curve in a nice smooth arc, this is done by slowly turning left in the air, whilst holding the left strafe button, or turning right by turning right slowly and smoothly whilst holding right strafe. To go straight you want to alternate between these two curves. This will take practice, like driving a manual car. But once mastered it will become second nature, and extremely fun.
Rocket jumping - With the soldier or pyro, fire a rocket into the ground and at the same moment press jump. If timed correctly you will fly high into the air. Try adjusting the angle for distance. This can be combine with the bunny-hop.
Grenade jumping - With any class that carries the frag grenade. Prime the grenade, listen to the timer and jump just as the grenade explodes, you should fly very high into the air. Do this whilst moving forward for additional direction.
More to come...
Known Issues
============
This is beta 2. There are a few known issues which need smoothing out.
- Name needs to be set in config with find / replace for grenade script.
- Communication binds not complete
- MvdSV (server) not yet included
- TeamSpeak not yet included
Troubleshooting
===============
- Jerky gameplay on duel core cpu pc?
- Whilst in TF, press crtl + alt + del, right click on ezquake-gl.exe, click set affinity. Disable on of the cpus. You should notice a doubling in fps.
- Grenade doesn't prime first press after a grenade jump?
- Read the section of the readme about setting your name correctly.
- Cant find a server with people in it?
- Check a list of irc channels around the world, find people there to play with. http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1926

=================
This is still a beta version, there are bugs. If you come across any bugs that I don't have listed in known bugs, then let me know, either at the official ZelTF forum entry at qw.nu: http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1905
About
=====
Why QWTF?
=========
========================

=============
=============================
============
This is beta 2. There are a few known issues which need smoothing out.
- Name needs to be set in config with find / replace for grenade script.
- Communication binds not complete
- MvdSV (server) not yet included
- TeamSpeak not yet included
Troubleshooting
===============
