Introduction - GGPO: GGPO.net stands for Good Game, Peace Out and it is an online matchmaking system for fighting games. it still is in alpha stage of development and the idea behind it is to provide a very good netcode that will prevent the games of having input lag which is crucial to fighting games. the netcode is outstanding and has some great prediction algorithms implemented which is rather unique for a fighting game.. you can play from Europe with American players and have a playable, responsive game. (Kaillera or other similar systems have nothing on this) currently, in this development stage, there are two games supported: Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Marvel vs Capcom. devs opted for only 2 games at the moment in order to iron out all the bugs within the GGPO Client before implementing more games. Installation: 1. follow the few easy steps in this official Installation Guide. 3. you will need of course the SFA2 rom (google link) - put it in "/GGPO Client/Roms/" directory. * DirectX 9.1c and .NET Framework 2.0 are required for WindowsXP Features: - worldmap on which players are pinpointed according to their IP (usually in the form of city and country) - in-game chat - widescreen support - demo recording - spectator support!! - rankings + achievements - GGPO TV !! YouTube VIDEOS: Ken vs ZangiefRyu vs KenGen vs Dananyone for a game or two? keep in mind that SFA2 has a pretty steep learning curve.. try to play with someone of your own level if you don't want to get raped move list and gameplay guide

I'm currently playing marvel vs capcom with my friends, mostly locally. We've played some games on ggpo, but my friends usually start to rage after I win 15 in a row or stuff like that. I liked street fighter a lot when I first tried it but after trying MVC I havent touched sf2 since. If some rookie player wants to play a few games on ggpo with me, I'd be really glad. Just msg me in irc, or challenge me if you see me in the lobbies

A real rookie do win everytime yes. guess I came of sounding like an asshole in my post, but whatever. In the mighty internetss I'm yet to win any games against anyone but two guys who (surprise surprise) started later than me. In sf2 i suck even worse, so i would definetly call me a rookie :X

new game supported on GGPO as a X-mas present: Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (Euro 970519)to install it: get vsav.zip (google it), put it in /roms, then enter GGPO -> Vampire Saviour (Experimental) lobby and follow the instruction from the lobby topic. since the support is experimental no replays are recorded yet in the Dojo for this game. VS has a crossbreed gameplay between SFA and MVC with fantasy horror characters gameplay basics & movelist @ gamefaqs.com

King Of Fighters 98 is supported on GGPO for a while now and with it the Asians invaded the server KOF98 match with 67 spectators (some pro KOF chinese player ripping apart random scrubs) & KOF game lobby with 220+ players also there's a classic beat 'em up with strong RPG elements called Dungeons & Dragons: Shadows Over Mystara haven't played it yet, only watched some dudes.. it is pretty awesome with dialogues, inventories and trading. too bad only 2 players can play atm. in 4 or 6 it would be epic

I just came across this video which features running C/C++ code within Flash: http://blip.tv/file/408241/
For the ones who are not interested in the tech talk from the guy - just seek to 5:00 in the video. Anyone in a need for a thesis subject? :-)

^don't believe him it's not just "C code", it's QUAKE. that's sneaky.
edit: why is it that anytime anyone invents something, be it c++ on flash or how to install windows 95 on your digital egg clock they use quake to show off their invention? not that i have a problem with that...

Before the times of Quake they showed of Doom and befoer that Wolf3D. I guess thats because iD games tend to be well known, cool, technologically andvanced, portable and.. of course opensource at some point.
