whats the difference between facebook and the other sites flepser?

I've heard the main idea behind facebook is that you upload your own pictures and stuff. That's not all though - when uploading the pictures you also point out who are on the pictures and then it automatically link to their facebook profile (if they have any), which creates a huge network that might be interesting to follow. That + all other community features expanded upon i assume.

the main idea with facebook was only for university students in USA.
but 1-2 years after the big expansion they opened it up for everyone

Sassa, the difference of facebook is that like all countries are represented, I've seen a LOT of norwegian and Swedish people there not to mention that like everybody in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia is on Facebook, thereby a lot of South African, Chili and Dutch people use it as well. Compared to many others (with the exception of MySpace, which is fkn ugly ) this is an awfull lot of countries . I never heard of it before I went to SA because we have 'Hyves' which is Dutch only, with a very few foreigners.

yep there are LOADS of swedish people on facebook, i found tons of old friends there....
i can recommend it! there is actually a quakeworld network in there.. but i didnt recognize anyone except soma (or well he told it was him)
but it would be better to have a network there instead of here on the forum where you have to scroll through all the text
