With a bit of help from Spirit, I have finally uploaded the Challenge Smackdown season 2 CD to the http://shub-hub.com/ . It is in the 'demos_quakeworld' section there. For those that don't know what I'm talking about (who would?), I copied the introduction below. Be warned that it is a ~650MB file (compression didn't help much due to the .qwz files in there). I even included the cover image, so you can put it in a case and make it official looking
By the way, if anyone cares, the challenge-smackdown.com site should probably be online again soon.
CHALLENGE SMACKDOWN SEASON 2 CD - 2007 RELEASE
==============================================
The Challenge Smackdown Quakeworld league was an online league that ran from 2000 through 2005 over 6 seasons with divisions across the globe. The website (www.challenge-smackdown.com) was part of the Challenge Network which otherwise consisted mostly of Quake-centered news and editorial sites.
At the conclusion of the second season with divisions in Australia, North America, North Europe, South Europe (and a rather inactive one in Brazil), Jjonez and Hoony decided to produce a CD that could be sold to help cover hosting expenses for the Challenge Network websites. The CD contained all content of the season 2 website, including screenshots and demos. Some additional content was specifically created for the CD too, with recorded demo commentaries by Hoony (revolutionary at the time !) and editorials by some of the league admins. All in all, over 650MB of data was available on the CD, an amount that would have been rather expsensive for most people to download at the time.
We were only moderatly successful in selling the CD, but it was purchased by Aardappel, Andy, Arch, DaftMonkey, Darff, Fox, Khaile, Metz, Nakoma, Tekai, Wart, Xipe, xrhl or ZzJohnzZ.
It is now 2007 and most of the Challenge Network has vanished. This file contains a complete image of the 'Challenge Smackdown Season 2 CD' as it was released in 2001.
Please check the 'README_1ST.txt' file in the 'CD_files' directory for additional information. The main entry point to the data is 'CD_files/index.html'. Note that, obviously, some of the content is outdated and some comments are no longer applicable.
