alright. new here.
ezquake runs great, and it's pretty easy, but when trying to connect to some servers, specifically the ones that use specific mods like customTF it doesn't seem to download everything properly.
also i'm interested in running a server, but the page for mvdsv is down and i'm not sure how to use it. i downloaded mvdsv_0.27_Win32_i386 from somewhere, and put it in a directory with the id1 pak0 and pak1, but all i get is 'you must have progs.dat from quakeworld installed'
any advice?
i'm not looking for anything fancy, just a way to start a game of quake, preferably with some sort of grappling hook, that my room mates can join in with.

try putting this mod in the /ctf directory

then you need the ctf pak files, you can get them here: http://fquake.quakeonline.net/distfiles/nquake/resources/nquake-addon_ctf.zip
put them in the /ctf directory too
then start mvdsv with +gamedir ctf
then tell us here if that works or not, so the settings can be tweaked.

I have been looking on the forums trying to get a server going but am getting this:

I have:
e:/qwserver e:/qwserver/mvdsv_0.27_Win32_i386.exe e:/qwserver/id1/pak0.pak and pak1.pak e:/qwserver/ctf..as you mentioned in the prior post e:/qwserver/progs.dat e:/qwserver/server.cfg e:/qwserver/qwprogs.dll
Can you offer any suggestions?

Do you have a qwprogs.dat in your CTF directory? Does your server.conf have the following line: sv_progtype 0?

Hi
I have:
sv_enableprofile 0 Sv_progtype 0 sv_progsname qwprogs
And I have progs.dat in the root and in the ctf dir
What i'm wanting to do is run an old mod for Quake 1 in its original state. Am I going about this the right way?

Well try: sv_progsname progs
But aren't trying to run a client mod?

e:/qwserver/progs.dat e:/qwserver/server.cfg e:/qwserver/qwprogs.dll
put these in the ctf directory and start mvdsv with parameters +gamedir ctf

i'm guessing you have a non-qw progs.dat?

Hi again,
I downloaded rocket arean from fileshack and used the progs.dat in here which was 300k smaller.
I now get:

to recap the directory structure is:
e:/qwserver e:/qwserver/mvdsv_0.27_Win32_i386.exe e:/qwserver/id1/pak0.pak and pak1.pak
e:/qwserver/ctf e:/qwserver/ctf/progs.dat e:/qwserver/ctf/server.cfg e:/qwserver/ctf/qwprogs.dll e:/qwserver/ctf/qwprogs.dat
Stupid question I guess but whats the diff between progs.dat and qwprogs.dat?

you should put the rocket arena qwprogs.dat in its own folder, e.g. qwserver/arena/qwprogs.dat
and run mvdsv with +gamedir arena

i get:

Really? I havn't tried hooking up to it yet but saw the "couldn't open accounts error" and figured it was a no go
If thats sweet i'll give it a go
