I need help. I've got this old game in my head that I used to play alot around 8-10 years ago. I can't remember the name, or even the console(s) it was available on. Here are the few things I do remember;
- The gameplay is in zero-gravity, and you're in control of a spaceship.
- You explore a 2d map in a similar fashion of Metroid/Castlevania.
- The first spaceship you start with is a pod-like thing that fires single bullets and has virtually no shields (dies in one hit I think).
- You gain upgrades to pretty much every aspect of your ship by collecting items found as you explore the map (can't really remember details here). There may have been some money-system in place that allowed you to buy upgrades.
- If you take enough damage to die in your upgraded ship, your original pod-like ship launches from the explosion and you can start over by collecting items again.
- This is a big maybe; the game may have had 'pod' somewhere in the name. I'm not at all certain about this though.
- New evidence has come to light that my old friend owned a NES, so that might be the console of choice. Don't count on it 100% though, since I'm pretty sure he also had some sort of SEGA.
A cookie to whomever figures out which game I mean first!
