I recon camping is an important skill in today's 4on4. but 10 years ago in FFA they we're hated by everyone. what happens in today's ffa? topfragger and topcamper are the same thing?

I'd say it depends on the map. If the map has a quad then you're most often better off going for that after having prepared with armour, and then just spam your ass off. Kinda like 4on4 play, at least that's how i usually play and when a really good player enters there is instantly a lot more competition for the quads. On a map like DM6 though where there is no quad you often do best by camping RA of course.

Some long forgotten dude on the XS4ALL server, he fragged his way to the top by only camping behind tele at MH, 'grenaderain' is his trademark. He was also pro on other maps though.

Defiant[CS]; the man is a legend and the [CS] stands for Camper Supreme... oh my god that's been frikkin' ages.

Lobi on the germany.net ffa server. He really was a pain in the ass to everonye. Even had his own homepage. I think it was a good player having some "fun". Apart from the camping i vividly remember how he he blocked a 16on16 pickup game for ages by not readying up.

Topsid Dm6 ffa server was haunted by frenchman and hpw Creteil for years. He only ever was to be found in mega room.

this brings back good memories. In pt ffa servers we had a bunch of them, usually horrible players seemed like they just pickup gl and write +attack in the console just like the other day in xs4all, ppl camping on ztndm3, what a blast

i dunno about you but i always point on campers on ffa

I've played some FFA games in the Kenya champs and was really surpaised how awfully campy most of the pplayers. But when I try quake.msk.ru it's all abount jumping around and shooting for fun. :-)

I recently played a 2on2 against knast and I think he is losing his camping touch because it was bearable :< I wish could find my or mipa's comment about the most boring 2on2 on dm2 game ever played against knast&co.

Emrys (AKA Mr Anders0n and assorted other nicks) used to be a pretty bad on the UK servers like Barrysworld. He was an OK player but didn't have the skill necessary for proper quad rampages. Often found at stairs on ukcldm2

However the biggest camper/spammer of all time must surely be Italian clan arena player LOGAN.

haha I like the dude smurf on xs4all servers.. he usually camps the telly room that's just next to quad at dm4 and at dm3 he just jumps down in the water to discharge constantly.. the best thing about him has to be that everytime someone whines at him he just responds with "smurf", "smurfering smurf", "smurfsmurf" etc it might be link!

Pretty funny that you wrote that in 2007, because he is still today camping it hard for hours and hours with one spot only on each map. He has changed his spot on DM4 though and is nowdays camping MH-room.
It's weird playing FFA when he's on. He's like an obstacle that changes the gameplay around a bit on the maps. Sometimes I wonder if he's really a human or a bad bot ...or a smurf.

From so many years of excessive camping I think he deserves the title 'Biggest camper of all time'.

Smurf indeed as I said 3 years ago! You are right swiNg, he is still alive and kicking. Always get a thrill from trying to kill him, but unlike some other campers he can actually aim :E
