to get some perspective, my friend who had never seen quake1 since 199*, saw me playing on Ezquake and said "what is that, doom? haha?" then i showed him FTE and he was surprised at how cool it looked. Nobody said it didn't look good. It does. It's playability of such a "visual" display that is imo the weakpoint. Haha, why is sassa so small? http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fte00269dn0.jpg considering you can turn off everything to look like plain old zquake, that doesn't make sense. besides isn't this thread about spectating? in which case - if the arguement is that it takes away from the gameplay.. again, the (visual) settings can be tweaked to the user's liking or turned off and different particle sets exist that are not extravagant. well why not use Ezquake in that case? because ezquake can never look as good. You really shouldn't use those skins on armors and items. It looks just like an ugly Q3 copy. And I agree with Aquashark regarding the HUD items aswell, the Q3 ports look horrible... :< Teamplay is nothing. Aim is everything. OBEY YOUR AIM

Molgrum, can you please post those hud items from your screenshots, just in case you somehow are using different hud items in different screenshots that i may have missed, these are what i want: http://img71.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fte00103dp4.jpg As much as q3 ripoffs they look like, I think they'll go perfect with the new hud I'm thinking of :> On second thought, why not just upload your entire textures folder minus the map textures and charsets (since i don't want those ) :{?

gun model looks bad.. lower the r_viewmodelsize (afaik FTE doesn't support that for md3 ) to make it look like on fov 90-100 charset has some weird borders/artifacts (ancient FTE bug i suppose ) no decals please.. they look weird in QW

Fixed the IBAR (empezar) Lowered the bloom (empezar) Set fov to 110 and cl_gunx to 0 (aquashark) Created a workaround alias for the weird HUD borders (aquashark) (what are "decals"?) Current status: ---Where can you see lions? Only in kenya! Come to kenya we've got lions.

If you can configure graphics tastefully, then I think fte would look better than ezq. The only big thing that ezq lacks graphically is a modern lighting system: higher resolution shadow maps, directional shadows from map geometry and decent shadows cast from models. Blood and burn on walls isnt very important. Also imo it shouldnt be about attempting absolute realism except where its visually pleasing. What is bloom? is that a pixel shading effect? Nice work guys. Regarding the my opinion: 1. Weapon icons should be more colourful. I.e. RL is red, LG -- white, etc. 2. Increase crosshair 3. Make lava more scary (I'd like to see lava from DDE3) 4. Make overall picture more contrast. People from behind should clearly see that somebody fires not in a dark wall with dark hole in it, but he's shootinf in to the doorway. 5. Move "tracking molgrum" off the center of the screen (lower or higher). And make it a little bit bigger. 6. Add "speedmeter". Everybody should see what an amazing speed gains RJ player. 7. I'd like to see decals on the walls and floor. Fill the QW map with blood and gore. :-) 8. Make teleports more colorful (green?) and if possible transparent. -- "Dag eats little Reloads for breakfast." (c) :-)
