overkill effects that are eclipsing the action IMHO
i know you're trying to make the game look more modern, but i have yet to see a multiplayer game with so much visual strain.

Yeah It's hard to make the eyecandy not get in the way of the gameplay, I just took whatever premade stuff I could find and enabled everything What should be toned down? I think the bloom is ok now, r_bloom_sample_size is 512 which I found to be a good balance. ---Where can you see lions? Only in kenya! Come to kenya we've got lions.

I would prefer a clean ezQuake Setup with some 24bit textures. Effects should be reduced to a minimum, thats what i think. Everything else would kill the focus on the match !

my 3 eurocents: I just hope fte and ezq could be 100% concurent (so admins shouldnt ban one or the other client) so we could get the best possible outcome (some stuff in fte works better than ezq while some stuff in ezq works better than in fte). Free market for all! (just that it's all about fame, no direct $$$ included )

Well, you can make a fuh/ezq particle set too and disable anything that you think is overkill, the screenshots simply show off all the possible eyecandy features I could find with just the bloom toned down a little. Show what you think would be a better setup, cause I can't really make anything out of these posts more than "it's overkill" and yeah, I hope you get the point that I can't tweak anything on that basis Someone mentioned the screens were too dark, how is this: ---Where can you see lions? The thing with quakeworld, is that it is so simple... why dont we play quake3-4 instead, if we want all this messy lightnings... I think Nquake package have a nice hud, and a clean setup that would impress

Still to get attention of new people you need to put it into some nice clothes. Reduce the shaft size. Then you are done of 20%. You need to get new models, textures, put it in some pack, give it to dreamhack ppl, with instructions how to setup it, etc.

to get some perspective, my friend who had never seen quake1 since 199*, saw me playing on Ezquake and said "what is that, doom? haha?" then i showed him FTE and he was surprised at how cool it looked.
anyway those screenshots are too dark, too low resolution (1280x1024 but looks like 800x600 STRETCHED), and too blurry. FTE can look plenty sharper/cleaner/more visible.
i have always messed around with the lightningbolt and the one seen there is big it can easily be shrunk if that is wanted. It Takes A Tough Man To Make A Tender Rocketjump
