Only trouble would be copyright of shape :/ And that is a real problem. Making one for yourself is no issue, but making and selling it is. I'm also initially interested in this, especially with the frame. Do you have any ideas for a more pricey version, with a bit more detail (like without all the empty holes in the frame , some special finish etc? Judging how charitable iD has been in the past when it comes to Quakeworld / Quake, you might actually want to e-mail them and simply explain that some oldschool guys would like this very simple collectible for sentimental value. OR you could simply keep it underground and hope noone sues Edit: also would be nice to know how much this thing weighs and approximations about how much it would cost to ship it, from France I assume?

Only trouble would be copyright of shape :/ And that is a real problem. Making one for yourself is no issue, but making and selling it is. We are all friends and this is nothing commercial. There is a guy in Germany who sells Quake 3 rune thingies to friends for years now with no problem. edit: Also there is no intention of making profit on deurk's side as well as no harm to possible id sales of similar stuff.

Maybe then a good point if I ask permission?

No, don't. They would most probably disallow it! (!) Just do your thing and they won't notice. And if they do, well, they might tell you to stop it. Nothing bad will happen.
I mean, all those replacement models are violating the intellectual property of id, equake did not create any lawsuits either so these tiny shiny things should be no problem at all.

I guess I can try... What do you think is the best way to set that up? There 2 things to take into account: 1) I will need a number of pieces to create (50 / 100 / 150) 2) I will need to give an advance of funds to reassure the one making the thingies that he will be paid Should I set up a Paypal thingie so people can preorder? Any comments/ideas are welcomed

Yeah PayPal is great for things like this, I'd recommend you get everybody to buy through PayPal before you place an order, and get 20% extra made or something for those who were too slow to pay early... So, if you get 50 people ordering through PayPal in a couple of weeks, get 60 made and you'll most likely be able to sell them fairly fast. I managed to set up my own lil business through the wonders of a video camera, a website, and PayPal; http://www.pushpass.co.uk/

Currently this has been put on hold... Problem is that order has to be a fixed number and there will be advance funds to pay, if you have any ideas...

You go to www.paypal.com and click "sign up", pretty easy huh? Anyways, on topic I would like one too, so please setup some paypal so we can prepay. I would however like if we can have it started after the first, where we probably (hopefully) all got a bit more money again.
