Can any1 please help me with a similar config compatible for the latest ezquake please. I havnt played much the last year and im unsure of the best way to have the game setup thesedays in relation to maxfps/monitor hz and all that jazz.
can any1 please help me?

and defs setup is still looking quite decent and uptodate (from what it looks like in his thread - cant believe its from summer 2006?!). you should be able to still use his package with newest ezquake. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in fourteen days I had lost exactly two weeks.

sassa: yeah i got nquake how do i enable pro setup mode? i meant Nquake in the topic btw
ive got 3 different quake directories for testing puposes defs package, latest ezquake, and nquake installed. defs quake package still feels the best, but ive got no idea what a current pro setup is, i mean im still using cl_max fps 76.blahblahblah, that cant be the way its done thesedays right?
simply importing defs config to the other 2 directories doesnt work properly, and it doesnt use independent physics by default, is that the way to play thesedays or what? id really like some current "pro" configs/setups to help me out, my setups old and i feel it could be better.
nquake is great, but its not 'pro' out the box, wheres all the pro configs? are they there somewhere? am i missing something?
thanks for the help.

What do you mean by pro? nQuake should be usable out of the box, what are you missing? http://www.quakeworld.nu/configs/

Why dont you just adjust the default nQuake config to your needs? I think it's much more wise then using a "pro-config". The ezQ-Documentation helps you! It may be more time consuming but the result definetly is worth it - at least it was for me.

Id like a good solid quake setup made for today, not 2006, thats all. i just want to put my weapon binds in and away i go, i tried doing that in nquake and it felt crap.
the way u make it sound all i gotta do is bind my keys in nquake and its setup as best as it can be, i doubt thats the case.
what monitor hz should i be using with maxfps etc, my monitor does 100hz, what max fps should i use then?

what monitor hz should i be using with maxfps etc, my monitor does 100hz, what max fps should i use then? Well its not that hard really... Stuff that´s important: Use screen hz from 100hz if possible, use highest stable maxfps as possible for example cl_maxfps 500, use 500 hz mousepatch, noaccelfix for xp, in_m_os_parameters 0 (for noaccel in qw). Then add your binds, a nice hud and a crosshair, and u are good to go: http://gfx.qwdrama.com/ There are no secret settings that only pro players use. I mean the most secret setting i know of i can share with you: use cl_rollangle 3 for lg :=) Then you can fool around with different fov, and cl_forwardspeed sidespeed etc. But thats all a matter of taste. If u wanna try a pro cfg, use the default from nquake, its pretty optimized as far as i know. There is really nothing more to it?

thanks for all the replies guys. After you typed in_m_os_parameters 0 you also need to set in_restart THEN use cfg_save and it will work

thanks j0n worked a treat.
one more thing, my FPS drops to 150's, im hardly running any 24bit textures either, just ammo boxes and health boxes, my maps are all standard. my PC is a p4 2.9ghz, 1gb ram, ati radeon x1650, when i do timerefresh it reads 900-1100, does that seems like normal FPS ingame?
thanks alot guys been alot of help, sorry for all the dumb questions.

thanks alot guys been alot of help, sorry for all the dumb questions. What resulution are u using. With my setup; amd x2 4200+ @ res 1280x960 100hz i get around 2100fps in timerefresh when looking at quad from ring/telespawn. But timerefresh isnt to be compared with in game fps, as u move the mouse, and player movements etc. But with your cpu u should get stable in game 500 fps most of the time. Otherwise i would recommend reinstalling all your drivers, or in a worst case scenario, reinstall xp (CLEAN install)

Im using 800x600 100hz
I think my FPS should be higher aswell, its wierd, considering all my textures are pretty low quality. My XP is a pretty fresh install, only a 2 weeks old and its a fully stripped down performance edition with the bare minimal applications included.
my video card is 512mb i forgot to mention.

Well its really hard to tell. Have you tried with different cfgs? different sys_highpriority sys_yieldcpu. When does your fps drop? Is it random or in certain situations?

Also i get some very wierd graphic glitch, im not sure what causes it
the only way i can explain it is, when i raise the console some of the chars are left on the screen, sometimes its worse than others, sometimes only a few pixels, sometimes not at all and sometimes big black blocks are in the middle of the screen. it happens in all of the 3 quake directories im testin, it happe ns in no other game.

It seems like I missed something, what did change in "pro" configuration of QuakeWorld since 2006? Could you finally be more specific? And "it felt like crap" is not very specific...

Ruskie: thanks alot, that fixed it. instantly. it was wierd because it never used to do it, then it started doing it after a format. Then i reverted back to old drivers and it was fixed for a day, then the next day it did it again. was weird.
JohnNy_cz: i know i was very broad and not very specific, but ive got it feeling quite good now. All i wanted was the perfect quake setup and i wanted to take the guess work out of it.
thanks to everyone who helped its much appreciated!!
