Anyone know how to get 500hz on the mouse in Vista 64bit?

Tried to follow this guide, but it just resulted in the mouse not moving at all..

vista defaults at 500hz. or did with me using mouse rate checker. im trying to look at upping it to 1000hz like i did for vista32

how absolutely fcked. it seems you cannot do this with vista 64bit SP1. well i cant. followed the directions exactly from here:

haha, simple method often the easiest? just installed new setpoint and just set hz to 1000. tested under mouse rate, 1000 constant. oh yeah

which mouse do you use?
I dont get the option with mx518.

Before SP1 i used to have 1000hz in vista64 because it was easy to find a working usbport.sys for that. One just had to disable signed driver enforcement
Driver signing enforcement could be disabled in two ways.

Either by
#1 uninstalling two WU patches
#2 pressing F8 every time during reboot and select disable Driver signing enforcement.

Obviously option #1 cant be done with SP1. But option #2 is still available. We just need a hex-code-hacker to change polling rate of the vista64-SP1 usbport.sys file.

hidusbf. You just need to get that driver signing thingy out of the way first.

g5, latest setpoint on vista 64bit SP1 put me on 1000hz according to mouserate

I downloaded the latest Setpoint drivers for my MX Revolution, and I don't see anything about changing the mouserate.
I'm stuck at 125hz.

Are wireless mouse like the MX Revolution stuck at that for a max due to the transmitter/receiver?

Logitech doesnt support polling rate change for mx-series as it seems.

I was able to have 500hz with my g9 wireless mouse.

But with mx518 im still stuck at 125 as said earlier

mx518 can doo 500hz in linux(that's what i tested), im sure it can do 1000 or 500 in windows too

I tired a great utility called hidusb at http://sweetlow.at.tut.by/download/hidusbfp.zip

It works by only altering your mouse polling rate, not other USB devices. No rebooting or crazy altering of security features.
Initially I thought it wasn't working, because my MX REvolution was still only 125HZ.
But then I plugged in an old wired logitech mouse, and voila! Any speed I wanted!

I'm guessing wireless mice are just unable to get above 125HZ.

Yeah, but this thread is about windows vista 64 with sp1.

The problem is that windows (vista 64 sp1) only accepts signed drivers.

Which is fine for logitech g-series as logitech drivers support diff polling rates.

Logitech drivers for mx-series doesn't support this feature. Which means you have to hack the drivers. Which means it isnt signed anymore. Which is ok on most other OS:es except for the one discussed in this thread.

Are you running Vista SP1 64bits?

I am too lazy to read the posts you made so here is the guide that I got my shit from:

1. Take control over usbport.sys in windows\system32\drivers\ (make yourself owner of the file etc. so you have enough access to delete the file)
2. go to safe mode
3. delete usbport.sys
4. copy the wanted setting from the map in to windows\system32\drivers\
5. reboot, check mouserate with mouserate.exe

do this on own terms tho, no gurantee that your mouse will work after this.

Not having tried the supplied usbport.zip , but unless it's is correctly signed, which I doubt, this wont work on Windows Vista 64bit SP1.

Infact it will most likely make all usb-devices stop responding and force you to repair your windows installation and restore the deleted usbport.sys.

My second guess is that these files worked well in vista before SP1 if you managed to turn of forced driver signing.
But even if you manage to do that in SP1, the file wont work.
