As Mushi adcviced I open here a new topic about my problem.
(back history: http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=37719#p37719)

The whole thing started with a fucking virus. Firefox automatically opened porn sites so fast that i couldn’t do anything. Then I decided that i put my HDD into my flat mate’s pc and try to kill the virus as I boot from another HDD. seemed that it was succesfull but then cam an idea that i will make a new partition and will try in the near future a linux distribution.
So I split apart a partition with partition magic. Then I remove the hdd for a moment and don’t know why, i don’t remember what i wanted to do but put it back into the rack and it fucked up.
The pc not started. When I removed it startes again. I tried it in my own pc with the same result.
Ok, there’s a short something. The problem was a damaged 5.1 Zener diode just right after the power connector. I removed it with a heatblower and now it works again perfectly.

I installed a new xp and copied up my old qw directory but then started the problem:
After every 15-20 secs maxfps drops down for a sec with 5-6fps. It doesn’t matter that my maxfps is 77 or 120 or 0 the drops always comes.
Since it appeared I formatted the whole HDD, repartitioned, installed a brand new nquake and the problem still exists.

One more thing... i tested my memory modules with memtest and they failed in dual mode and failed in normal also. But when i tested them separately both of them pass. The motherboard is a MSI k7n2 delta-l the mem modules are 2 pcs 512 mbyte twinmos. But it’s just a note with the mem modules since i known this problem earlier. If i tested the modules before this whole shitstorm they also failed on memtest ( test 5, block moving. The very end of the test step (98-99%)) so i don’t think that this cause the problem but i note it.

could somebody help me? Any idea? I’d like to play again. EQL is so close, a rookie clan asks after me but what the fuck they will think that i can’t play and pracc with them right in the very beginning (

Please structure your post a bit, extremely annoying to read

Had similar problems, hmm, new drivers for motherboard and graphics card solved my problem.

Ez 1.9 seems to work a LOT better than 1.8.3 when it comes to stable fps, so try it out if you haven't already.

ok

first thing to do is...

relax!... your clan is your friend, they will understand and feel that you one hell of a rookie with lots of motivation

so, my advice is... due to those problems u described: if it is hardware, it may be the ram indeed. set them up for NOT using dual channel. or just try quake with just one dimm to check if is the ram, or better yet, try with a new dimm. if its not the ram, try with other hdd. both borrowed from a friend or something??

edit: have u installed the nforce2 chipset drivers?
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

There are few things to be mentioned here:

1) if there is A SINGLE ERROR in memtest86+ (yes, this is newer&better one), it's one too many errors (this will certainly cause either bsods or application errors at some point, but not drops in fps).

2) you have nforce2 chipset. nforce2 chipsets are known to have opengl related pauses (small, 0,1-0,3s long) when you have onboard APIC enabled. ***

3) there can be problems related to raid setups if you are running one.

(*** ACPI and APIC are different things. ACPI is advanced configuration and power interface while APIC is advanced programmable interrupt controller)

So if you have APIC enabled in bios you should disable it and re-install windows (unless you are good with computers and know how to change the pc-type through device manager). If that doesn't help then it's something else. You also should REALLY consider changing those sticks of RAM to reduce instability of the machine, if there's any.

CPU is about 40C the GPU also around 40C.
yesterday a ran some anti-virus and spyware programs but found only some tracking cookies.
but noticed some strange things yesterday: i just checked in nvidia monitor the temperatures and see under the voltages column:
CPU: 1.6480V (that's ok)
AUX: 1079.5131V (!!!!is it possible? what the hell is this?)

http://www.sg.hu/galeria/1048166408/10481664081210336478.jpg

i step in bios after a reboot and saw between the voltages that the bios shows 0.00V where -5.0 V should be. weird. (psu is a Chieftec 500W active PFC unit, so not a noname product)

I'm at work atm but i will bring with myself to home a brand new 1gigabyte mem module and i will try the things with this. Also will try this APIC thing. thanks the tips, guys. i will come back with the results late afternoon
