Nice looking pak. But when i put pak3.pk3 in my id1 folder i get like 400% less fps in game, than when i decompress the pak to qw/textures... I use ez 1.9 stable

Did some tests and couldn't reproduce your problem! Used de fps.qwd demo and the results where very similar with pak, pak3 and even files extracted.

Well the problem seems only to accur when i use the whole pak. I opend it with winrar, and removed everything except the textures, then it works flawless. So there must be some kind of model/something that eats my fps

But i dont care, since i only need the textures Tnx, i like em alot

I assume you're using timedemo to work out those statistics?
Are you certain timedemo is independant of load times?
With models/textures/etc all precached, the choice between pk3/pak/unpackaged makes no difference to actual framerate, only to load times.
Although cache misses after the map has loaded within the first frame might not help, I admit... but that should be happening anyway if there's enough detail.

Jon, it's normal that whole pack with new, hi-poly models and textures for weapons and ammoboxes, and all other hi-def stuff hits your fps much more than only map textures... If you unzip whole .pk3 file to textures, ezQuake will read only textures, because custom models, conbacks, conchars, etc. must go to different folder (progs for models etc.) to work. When you put pak3.pk3 to id1 folder, ezQuake reads folder tree structure inside it, and everything work instantly. That's the difference. Like spike said, there is no fps difference between pk3, pak, or uncompressed folders, but as long as they contain exactly the same stuff. It's just your PC that can't run all this eyecandy at framerate you are used to.

I had a problem with some a range of bsp's for ammo/health boxes, that game me fps drops - even on my system that could run 2000fps with the setup. I used maxfps 500 and everytime i went into a ammo room it would drop like 10 frames, and then go back to 500.
