Just use FTE, it has such features too if I remember correctly. Dunno the cvar though, gl_schematics looks a bit like it but different.
NPRQuake is a windows techdemo and such a rather bad idea to "import".

Whoops, I didn't know it was ported to Linux and MacOS. Thought it was dependant on some windows DLLs.
Yeah, it looks pretty cool. I remember it being the the thing that made me install some glide (3dfx) wrapper on my P75&Ati Mach 64 to see it. Had 1 frame per minute which made it rather hard to close again. Well, I learned my lesson about emulation/wrapping then.

I think filter from first screenshot, applied only to walls and floor, could be great alternative to drawflat. And if it will be possible to combine these sweet outlines with customizeable background colours, it will be even better.
