improved the model/texture a bit... sng also got some better texture now. the "brown stick" holding the barrels is slightly lighter and added some minor detail to the texture... all v_models have been updated to their most current versions in the v_models.rar http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/v_models.rar http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/g_nail_big.jpg <- bigger and more brighter image. http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/g_nail.rar <- download and try

and one of the hardest to texture, why i chose to start with it, and also i was most happy with the ng v_model. rl is next on my list, need to tweak the model a bit first, to mach the newly updated v_model...

http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/g_rock2.rar skin still needs a lot of tweaking, not happy with the color of the barrel...

I just thought I'd add my support to the thread -- keep working! Your models are spectacular; a great blend of faithfulness to the Quake originals and interesting new graphics. You're getting close to a completed weapon pack, which would be really great. I can't wait to see that axe replacement with a skin, too. Keep up the good work!

thanks when i find the time i'll wrap something together of the sng and rl, I'we started on the rl but at the moment the skin is crappy (http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/g_rock2.rar). as for the sng... i'll need to make some changes to the model so that it goes together with the current v_model, witch i am very happy with. while working i'll probably come up with new ideas and improve the old ones as i work on new ones. to start with i have some ideas on how to improve the texture of the handles on the g_models a bit. and also add some minor detail to the texture without loosing that very importaint quake touch. also the g_shot will get a bit more detail, allthough the original model is very dark and has no real detail to it. but first i'll have to figure out how to do it without overdoing it. all feedback is very well appriciated and i assure you that all suggestions have been put to use in one way or another, so no point in complaining after i make the final releases.... when that day comes.... someday alltough the LG still is a minor problem... (scroll up this page), i still don't know how it should be shaped... the /\ part on top.... personally i like the original... and the one in the middle, but i don't like the totally rounded... it's a frigging lightning gun and not a super soaker..

I'll chime in there. I prefer the original Quake version -- it seems a good balance between true to the original (the triangle-bit) and modernized (the slight curve in the rest of the weapon). The middle version is pretty good -- at least, I don't have any *problems* with it. The all-rounded one, on the other hand, is definitely no good (somehow it winds up looking like a confused remake of the Q3 RL, or something...).

sorry about that, took a short brake when i ran out of ideas, due to a lach of feedback. then that turned in to a longer brake because it got very busy at work, last 3 weeks i'we been home only on weekends :/
ah yes, also could use some more and some new materials for texturing purposes...
hmm, not at home so can't show any images, but a month ago i started on the g_nail2 textures... the barrel part is finnished, it's identical to the v_model, but ran in to a wall with the back part. it's so simple so i have to do something great with the texture. and been wondering if i should make it similar to the RL back part... with the "mesh" thingie... also another thing, will redo the handles on all models. the current ones are hard to texture in a way that looks nice...

as you can see both still need work, can't even get the rl barrel to match the v_model

holy crap. that's just beautiful!
hmmm

if so, omg.

a little feedback on the v_models, which are close to perfect!
compare these two, and you'll see that the RL is much thinner and looks less powerful than the gl (which is just perfect). if you could make them a little more similar (by making the rl look more phat and perhaps change the perspective or something?) it would be just great!

if so, omg. v_ is nearly done, but i won't admit it because i'm very sure that before i finish the g_ set, that i will come up with new ideas to improve v_ and as I said before, g_ needs new handles. if you look at images of the g_ models you might notice that the handle part is very blurry. also, the shotgun will get a bit more detail, witch requires redoing a bit. the result will be in this direction -> http://www.neaca.com/images/Ithaca_Model_37_1729931_Shot_Gun_20_ga_3_.JPG a little feedback on the v_models, which are close to perfect!

http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/new/images/v_rock.jpg have you noticed the same ingame? since the two pictures above are renderings to show of the model, with no particular camera angle in mind. and yeah, i just decided... LG will be triangle shaped! for anyone that will complain I'll release the rounded one, but it won't be a part of any official releases.

the LG v_model looks like it had way too many burgers make it more straight.. looks really fat also dunno why ezquake displayed MD3 models with washed out textures.. it's like the textures have a separate gamma that's really high

i for one love the rounded LG. it's really sweet. the original lg looks so thin and starving.
