yea, well r_viewmodelsize 0.X helps that too, and viewsize XXX it's not hard to resize the model but who plays with r_drawviewmodel 1 anyway? :E

I think it's got too much Q3 feeling to it, what with the rings and all. I like it better plain and simple. nobodys forcing you to use them.. : /

well q3 is ahead qw in the beauti-race and to snatch some stuff from q3 wouldn't be wrong silver v-models for starters

Omg, stop teh gfx whine already. Q3 is ugly as shit and will never come close to the raw beauty of 128x128 8bit textures and the quick flashing of brown walls, brown floor, brown sky and brown enemies. Noone plays with r_drawviewmodel 1 anyway, so why bother? :p "But it's nice to see fancy weapon models in movies!" you say. Why is it then that the best movies are those that focus on the frags, not the visual extravaganza? HEY! stop babling about crap this thread is dedicated to models. you don't like em, don't use them you got ideas, share them you like them, well thank you for that and more on the faithfull thing since someone was talking about that "old quake feel": http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/g_rock2_faithfull.jpg in the image above you can see what i'm going for with my models, i import the original model to max for referense, then i create a new hig detail model of it, then i create good texture cordinates so that if someone doesn't like my textures, he can go ahead and create his own textures. after that i create my own textures that are in color, highlight and shadow close to the original, but in 24bit and more detail... now, I havn't qutie yet figured out how to animate md3, so instead i created more models you know the md3 ammobox models that come with some packs well, i took those, since they are faithfull, and i added even more detail and rounder shapes to them. http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/ezquake000.jpg http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/ezquake001.jpg theese two images are just the first versions, still need to do quite a bit of tweaking...

ye those are cool ruohis, but I have been wondering if making new healthboxes in another shape that square is possible. I've talked to Cheapy about this and he said it was hard since they are some weird modelfile(not .mdl) or something. Ruohis wanna give it a shot?

i'm making the ammoboxes into md3, so if needed i could make them look like christmas trees, but first i'm going for faithful, so a square box it is /* Edit http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/detailed_b_models.jpg still need to model the big shell and nail boxes, but how do you like them so far? and yes they are very similar to n30g3n3s1s models, with the exeption of 3-4 times more polygons so what he did with textures i'm doing with the actual model. but anyways, I did have a question, the rocket packs, the original quake model had 4 rockets, I did that (n30g3n3s1s model had only one big) but the original big rocketbox had 2 big ones, as i now have done on the model. But witch is better? Small rocket box: 1 big rocket or 4 small ones Big rocket box: 2 big rockets or 8 small ones

Small rocket box: 1 big rocket or 4 small ones
Big rocket box: 2 big rockets or 8 small ones i dunno whats the best looking, but u should go for the same idea for both. both big, or both small. the screenshot looks strange when the rockets are diffrent sizes. otherwise it looks great.

Indeed they look weird, since you don't get 1 or 2 rockets from the packs i think i'll go with the many small rockets, logically it also makes more sense /* edit http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/finnished_untextured_b_models2.jpg <- as the filname sais it, finnished but untextured comments please, i won't be doing any changes after i'we done the texture cordinates heh, the big rocket and nailboxes almost went over the limit (2048 polygons)

http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/temp/texturing.jpg my progress today... so far so good, half of the models are textured, well actually finnished the cordinates for the small health boxes but havn't yet created the actual texture. theese models will be out soon, with any luck for the weekend, will have a few users thest them first when they are finnished, then pack em, wrap em and upload for everyone to download. tested the ones that are textured ingame and they look really good

small rockets and like 4 of them looks cool looks nice but some different style to the healthboxes? I know its a box, but like more round would be cool

I've always loved your grenade launcher g and v models. In my opinion they are your best work.
A more "metallic" skin would make them even better, though. Maybe even take advantage of modern bumpmapping and such to give it a shiny look.
Even as it is, though, they are excellent.

Cracking models man!!
My only comment would be the green texture on both NIN and shotty shells, a tad confusing. Your average qw player will know just by where they are on a map but for looks wouldn't it be better if they could be distiquished more easily?
A dum question comming but couldn't anything be done about f_modified since ammo and armour models aren't gunna help peeps cheat? Is there anyway to allow models that fit within given boundries, height, width etc or is f_modified unchangeable?

I didn't say round as in globe-shaped, I meant like more edges or some craters or whatnot, maybe like the mega. those are cool ruohis, not too much at all. Maybe make a hole in the smaller one?

you mean like this? and if so that won't be first on my priority, sorry, just finnishing with the b_models and then it's on to g_models, then people have requested powerups and all that... and all faithfull, and round just isn't quake maybe later /* Edit Now that i had 10s to think about it, a full round model set would be something? all boxes would look the same, but different images? i'll bet there would be someone who would like that, but as i said, maybe later...

everything is great the models look HOT but its sad that they wont pass f_modified so 24bit textures to old weapon models would be nice thing to see Great Job Ruohis
