On the plus side, this is probably the nicest looking QW setup I've seen used for capturing. Very nice visuals.

But apart from that I gotta say I wasn't impressed.
> Some frags were nice but a lot was just the usual boring dm2-big and dm6-ra airgibs
> The editing was was too heavy, with freezes, panning, rewinds and god knows what that just distracted from the actual content and made the movie frustratingly slow at times
> FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOULD PEOPLE STOP CREATING PANNING INTROS ALREADY? WHY DO YOU DO IT? WHAT IS THE JUSTIFICATION? #¤%¤&/
> Intro and credits totalled roughly 2 of the 8 minutes of runtime, that's way, way too much. People come to see the gibs and aXXion, not to get "atmospheric" (ie longwinded) segues.

All in all, I honestly think most moviemakers could learn a thing or two from Zaiko who made the BM movie a while back. Although he too had a godawful panning intro at least he kept things basic with less eyecandy, few pointless slowdowns and editing tricks, and mostly good and funny content (not a single dm2 airgib for example)

lib, that's your oppinion. please don't say that ppl want the frags and new stylish gibs/quadruns, I love effects. and I couldn't find anyone better on that stuff than phrenic or mech. go watch old qw-movies if you like or make your own. don't expect these guys to make worse-looking quakemovies just because you can't see the frags

Peppe: where did I claim to be speaking for anyone except myself, and since when must any criticism be met with "yeah well dont watch it then"? (or rather "go watch old movies then"

and finally, where did I say that i wasn't able to see the frags? I just said the horrible over-editing distracts from the action.

I agree with lib. What's the point of making the whole screen go fuzzy/blurry as soon as there is actually something interesting to lay eyes upon?

And peppe: omg, plz, bbq.

when i watch a quakemovie, i expect something else. as for mechs and phrenics movies, they all are 100% identical. no originality or nice content, its just 'super cool' frags which has been seen 2500000 times and 'super cool' graphics which is something that doesnt compensate the overall crappiness

I would like to exercise my freedom of speech in a way that humiliates peppe as much as possible. But apparently the moderators of this forum think otherwise. I apologize for my anarchistic behavior.

This was a good movie but I agree with mipa. For the movie to be great it needs something else. Examples of something else includes LDs two movies or willgurhus slide movie. Very good movies for different reasons.

in one point i agree with lib, the visual effects too much for me getting headage of it:p and sometimes it looks like q3 gaudy and crazy
But i love Intros, it gives the movies a personal touch
You have the chance to show your one ideas and creativity and the viewers have to see it because its a part of the movie)
A good movie need a intro, its importent for the right atmosphere
these guys that dont like intros, these guys never watched a good film in the cinema

This wouldbe true if the intros ever were original, but the inevitably aren't. It's always long panning shots, sinister and/or romantic music and the usual slideshow of movie title and creator (made even more useless by the fact that we get this info again in the compulsory ending credits).

I'd love to see an original intro, I'm sure it'd improve any movie. There just hasnt been one yet, that I can think of.

I thought the osams movie intro was original :|

Although it was kinda influenced by Pulp Fiction - surely a first for a QW movie?

mech: Something unlike what I've described above, perhaps?
Seriously, are you saying you cant see how every single movie released in the past year or so have the same formulaic intros?

Aqua: only answering mech's question.
Watching demos for the content, sadly they usually take the back seat to special effects and editing showboating.

now i watched the movie, the intro is the best what i have ever seen, a very very great intro!!!
the music of the intro is also nice, and the gray-style its a perfect symbiosis with the music and the camera povs
very very nice
After that intro i abide much more!
