Nah, too pragmatic.

Cokeman, when was created mvdsv and qizmo?
And when QTV and QWFWD?

Personally, i dont want to test it by myself, but i can do that, when i will be able to give quota and access rights to the program in freebsd.

Pretty blue eyes yo got there, just one day ago (yes, yesterday) yet another MVDSV/telnet bug was fixed. Not only that, a bit before 0.28 release a lot of downloading related stuff was made a lot more strict.

QTV has been tested more intensively in the past 1½ years than MVDSV in the last 5 years, not to mention QTV is not that young since it is a FTEQTV fork with no UDP part at all. QWfwd is relatively new, modified version of what IDsoftware shipped with Q1:

802 15/11/2008 03:42 qqshka: nothing special, just qwfwd from q1sources, a bit modified.

I also see very good points above, something about being open source and the ability of everyone to check themselves. The best part is, you don't really have to run QTV by yourself, let someone else's QTV do the streaming. Also, the QTV/MVD part in MVDSV was rewritten last year, making MVDSV's security questionable in the terms of "age" and "testing" since noone has bothered to test it at all, it seems to work anyway.

To hackers out there!: Can you start trying to hack the TCP/IP port of the MVDSV?

Well, let's just say that community seems to be demanding QTV and QWfwd, which are newer indeed but that only make them more "agile" in terms of bug fixing if bugs or exploits are found.
Now, server admins might just not like to use new things and be paranoid, or maybe just extra careful, I can understand that. It just seems that you will deny your users nice tools...

It would be interesting indeed though to have people trying to hack into qwfwd, mvdsv, ktx, and qtv.
I'm sure bigfoot would be delighted to show us some holes

Spzman, really, there is no need to add qtv on your host, just open qtv stream port in the mvdsv, protect it with a password, and provide info to the Cokeman, then he may add your servers to his QTV, this way it works for Playground and Gamecod servers for example.

So you jutst need set next variables in mvdsv:

qtv_streamport port
qtv_password password
qtv_maxstreams 1
<3

80 is not playable at all

I had lot's of fun on Elvis FFA (when it was still up) with ping 80-100 and sometimes actually won the match, beating russians with ping 25. Only when the better ffa players came I couldn't win (Mors, XPR, etc.).

I noticed that it helped to play slower (no mouse-jerking + less strafejumping) and with more strategy and prediction shots. It's certainly a big difference in terms of lag but if the ping is steady, you CAN get used to it. I've also seen an american dude once playing with ping >120 on xs4all fragging the shit out of most ppl. But again, that was when the better players weren't there (GiBBs, Raven1, Dahmer, Skillah, Gijs, etc.).
