ok, im gonna post this on the off-chance someone can help me.
ive basically tried EVERYTHING tho..
in-game im taking massive fps hits (in fights somewhere in the region of 60 fps sometimes!), and just running around usually around 10-15.
I've tried all the Smooth Quake settings, messed around with sys_yieldcpu + highpriority, tried latest card drivers, tried the 178.24 drivers, i've disabled all running progs, ive dropped my resolution down to 640 x 480 and reduced FPS to 240 and STILL can't get stable.
Nothing is really eating resources that I can see.. and my cfg is def not the problem.
I've also tried getting rid of the 24 bit textures and using standard, as well as r_drawflat.
v_sync is forced OFF
I have recently formatted also and have a performance edn install of Windows XP with all latest updates etc.
If I've missed anything chances are I've tried it..
I'm using ezQuake 1.9 stable (build 2253).
P4 3.00ghz, ASUS P5VD2-VM, 1gb (2 x different brand RAM - I know..), GeForce 8600 GTS 256mb card.
19" Philips 109B4 monitor - have tried 800x600@100hz - 308 max fps and 640x480@120hz - 240 max fps.
I know it's an old system.. it's gotta be hardware related..
Please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions. -- I know these topics come up all the time, but seriously, this game is from freaking 1996!! and I can't even pull max FPS..!
