Hey there, whilst chasing inspiration for the finale to Grendel's Keep I decided to get amongst the Kingpin textures I'd been drooling over for years. Here's the outcome disdm4: City of Sin. I think it'll play well 2v2, but why not try it and let me know.

i was really impressed with this. nice, unusual set of textures and there are lots of interesting places in this little city. lots of stuff to climb on and ambush people from above.
i was hoping it would be more suitable for 4on4. it isn't really though, it's a bit too small IMO and i'm not sure the layout is fitting for 4on4. it seems to not have distinctive enough areas that can be held and defended by one team. the streets of the town are all connected and make up a single area basically.
have you ever considered doing a level explicitly for 4on4? many quakeworld players would welcome it very much, we've been playing the same maps for 13 years...

someone please get this on xs4all it should be a lot of fun to play with a bunch of players.

beautiful map! very well designed! could perhaps try some hide n' seek instagib on it, but for other game modes I dunno..

and yes - why not apply those awsome mapmaking skills of yours to create "the perfect 4on4 map"?

Glad you like it! Feedback is a wonderful thing.

I'm just in the throws of finishing a remake of the "perfect 1v1 level" with Phil. Some of you might've seen a half finished version a Dreamhack.

Once that's out of the way dEus and bps, I'd certainly like to start a dialogue about making "the parfect 4on4 map".
I've been trying to get some players on board for just that for some time.
So expect a tap on the shoulder in the second half of the year.

phil gave me a sneakpeak last night of a remake of some q3/cpma map he'd done, dont remember the name of it though, is that the one you're working on aswell?

I gladly help out in a test team for upcoming maps, so when you want me head over to #druidz.qw on IRC.
another thing: I've spoken alot with "pluppifjellen" who is an awsome map maker aswell. I bet he's interested in all of this!

Yeah I tried it at dreamhack aswell, it had great potential and the parts that were finished looked quite good.

bps, I think it is, as Phil said he just did the layout and then had a "mapper" working on the looks. I won't mention the maps name as i don't know if it's meant to be a secret?

The map is called shrine. It has been an idea of mine to take pro-q3tourney4 (the great zero4's home map) and rework it into QW. The one major change which I envisioned was the replacement of railgun with shaft. The one major change which I did not anticipate was the ability to turn and curl in the air without losing speed, and therefore making for a very fast map (faster than aerowalk?)

Distrans really deserves most of the credit -- he did the detail brush and texture work. I gave him a layout of the map (which was lying around without use for like 5 months) which I did from memory of what Q3T4 looks like. It isn't a faithful remake, maybe 90% faithful in terms of layout, and all the important items and teleports and doors are all there (Most notably there is no GL, one RL pack, and one stack of LG cells, so you will need to keep extra careful eye on your ammo as you are flying around timing the two YAs and mega)

It will be properly released soon :>

Somebody want to make a MVD to release along with the BSP?
