yes i know, can you guys make those demos playback when you run the game like it was in original quake.

i think its a great way to create good first impression since there are still so many barriers to have fun when you install quake for the first time.

I like this idea, but that demo just had the opposite effect on me... no offense, but it's not a good demo. Join us on discord.quake.world

I think showing the menu straight away would be much more accessible for newcomers.

I think showing the menu straight away would be much more accessible for newcomers. why would a proper intro be a downside, you just press any button and menu comes up just like in original quake, but on a positive side you get to show off fun quake gameplay and potentially make new people interested in giving quake a more serious effort rather than uninstalling it after being pwned in a duel.

cl_onload "playdemo bps_owns_reppie_way_too_much" However there's no convenient way to make the demo stop to play when the user presses the Any key. Maybe we should add cl_startupdemo, which, when filled, starts demo playback on start and on key press stops the demo (and keys get normal functionality)... sounds good?

Demo loading takes ~5sec on my rig (average comp 2gb ram, gf7 256 video, amd x2 4200). Taking away 5 secs on each start of client isnt good idea :\ Mine do no spaek engrish!

if you have a lot of highquality textures, loading a map/demo might take a few seconds.

cl_startupdemo is in nightly builds now, could use some testing perhaps..

I had some trouble with it, I'll post in the bugs section.
