I'd like to ask server admins to update to latest QWFWD. A few days ago a functionality was added to this proxy and to the ezQuake client that allows the client to determine which route to given server is best ping-wise. At the moment there are about 6 proxies supporting it, but the more proxies are out there supporting the ping look up, the better use of this functionality will be for everyone. If you know there is a server without latest Qwfwd and you know its admin, try to make him/her upgrade In ezQuake you need to do sb_findroutes 1;sb_refresh (or use SB gui) and then use connectbr command (or 'x' key in SB gui server info window) to make use of this. Also some pings in the server browser will be yellow - such ping is the best achievable ping using connection via some proxy/proxies. You need latest 2.1 nightly build. Edit: all proxies have to be submitted manually to this site: http://www.quakeservers.net/quakeworld/servers/t=proxy/

qw.slackers.dk:30000 (fog.mine.nu:30000) is updated.
Does this feature also connect to multiple qwfwds (chaining) to give the best ping?

Does this feature also connect to multiple qwfwds (chaining) to give the best ping? yes, it finds the best path no matter via how many proxies it is Edit: however the protocol limitation doesn't allow to use more than 3 proxies in practice

btw, I had to select a source in server browser (perhaps a source is default in some (nquake) configs.) So guess below is the steps you need to complete.
1. select a source in server browser (that knows about existing qwfwds and servers). 2. /sb_findroutes 1 3. /sb_refresh 4. <wait for refresh to complete> 5. /connectbr <server-ip>

Ok, thanks for reporting this. I knew about this issue for some time, it happens for users with old configs where there's only "sb_sourceunmarkall" cmd and no sources marked. So I commited a change to ezQuake now which enforces marking the default sources if no sources are selected. New users (without config) were getting some default sources marked for quite some time already.

Great job guys, there are now 11 proxies supporting this feature. But still - the more - the better.

I've now sent "requesting qwfwd" email to admins of these servers: Duna, XS4ALL, Aster, FRAGLIDER.SAPO.PT, qw.zachem.org Couldn't find out who is the admin of gamecod. Admin of fraglider.sapo.pt has his mailbox full. Too bad for .pt, guess they will always be HPB boys.
Poland, Hungary and Russia have some chance to improve their "ping situation" if the other admins take some action.

Tried to make one work, but probably have firewall issues preventing to make it work. I can start it up, but you can't connect to it. Custom maps for the show, episodes for the pro.
