Imo concs that we use here in EUROPE have some real serious effect to the game, when beeing conced its hard to do nothing. On the other hand your concs just makes your aim go round´n´round. Scouts can concjump to enemysbase in 3secs, run to flag and be there before the def has even spawned.
ive not played clanmatch vs russians but last time finns played vs russians u got badly raped(and it was ur tf not ours)

New conc prevents more movement, old conc - aiming. I can depart in a corner or constantly jump on one place - effect from new conc will not be. By the way the effect of new conc strongly depends from ping. The players with low ping receive additional advantage... New conc more spam grenade, then skill. We have refused from new conc many years back, and absolutely not regret about it.

It was match Euro Team vs Russian Gather with very strange rules... Any european clan didn't play against russian clans by russian rules. Wait... europe has active clans?

It was set up a few weeks in advance so both teams had time to prepare. Also it was 5 finns and one swede (the swede as stand-in for our sixth player). And as 187 wrote it was Russian rules, which were completely new and difficult for us (rj-scripts allowed and old grens). It was also played on a russian server with pings in the 50+ range for us (we are used to 12). Still we won very easily.
But it was a nice and fun game and I would have wanted to play a rematch where russians gather a better team and choose both maps. Too bad it didnt happen.

You could still try to make it happen. I myself have had enough of TF. Its too much fighting about rules and maps. DM is a much more suitable game for competitive play and the skill level is also much higher.

May be finnish team knew about game beforehand and prepared for it, but russian "team" was organized in last moment on irc. It was Tull's initiative and more game for you, than for russian... It's very strange to hear phrases like "all russian sux" after that... :?


Genders2 was never played in Russia seriously. Many our players saw it whole some times.


Many russian (and me too) always plays with ping 40+ (feature our adsl). I don't think that ping 40-60 is real problem. In DM - may be, but not in TF.


There is no necessity. It's enough to choose maps, which traditionally play in Russia (such maps more, than in Europe).


May be... But personally to me games modular (dream team, gather, ect.) teams are not interesting. The competition between real clans is much more better. Even if personal skill of the players not so high.

By the way, theoretically any team/clan can play on our monthly tournaments. I speak about one-day tournaments, played on one map... But they are in sunday and the first games begin in 13:00 on Moscow time

I play TF for 3 years with ping 300, and no problems . In TF even if you have 300ms latency you can do teh shit . At least in our TF. 'euro-concs' are very-very ping-affected =:-(

P.S. I know how2play 2, but i'm rare guest on TF servers nowdays - I'd prefer lan games vs really good __TEAMS__ =:-)

This years TomteFortress will be on Saturday and Sunday the 9th and 10th of December. The map will be either cloudy if I manage to find enough teams for 8vs8 or rs_zz1 if we have to play 6vs6. Latest FuhQuake, ezQuake version 1517 and qw262 Revision 11 will be allowed, not mqwcl. Hunter is finishing a new version of the map cloudy and it will hopefully be on chosen(2).servegame.com tomorrow (Monday), however you can download the old version (it have some texture problems) here.
