Hi!
We are setting up the environment for the hungarian QW lan (http://www.quakeworld.nu/news/601/) and having some questions.
~ 40 players, 5 servers, 1 qtv server for watching 2 player
The questions about QTV:
#1: 100Mbit enough or 1Gbit nescessary?
#2: QTV loads server and network more than QW clients?
#3: what internet bandwith required for the smooth QTV broadcast?
Thank you in advance!

i've heard around 5kb/sec is needed per connection. so you would need about 3mbit for 50qtvusers, not 100 or 1000mbit. i've seen a bit over 200 connected on qtv so i wouldn't worry about getting gbit(i doubt you would get more than 200:p)

You forgot to add
http://qw-dev.net/projects/qtv/wiki/Comparison, he was asking about "stress" too :\

Loads server?
- No, it doesn't load "MVDSV" at all.
- Uses more CPU? Well, yeah, bit only if you have over 500 QTV'ers (QTV clients) connected.
EDIT: I also updated the bandwidth requirement page on the wiki...

Does QTV/MVDSV use full frame rate or something lower like mvd-demos can do?

Best option would be to talk to Renzo and get the qw.fi qtv to handle the qtv. That way you will only need 1 connection per server.

QTV reads MVD data, so the fps is gotten from there (MVD fps is 30 these days if I remember it correctly).
If the server (MVDSV) is in stand-by mode and empty, the amount of fps is very limited so it doesn't eat up bandwidth while still allowing you to move on server while being QTV observer. If no data is being sent, you wouldn't be able to move at all on a server with no players.
