This season of EQL we went for a 3 division-system. EQL10 was 4 divisions, and EQL9 before that was 3 divisions.
Now I wan't to hear your opinions about the different systems, and please don't use this thread to complain about my team X ended up in divY but should really have ended up in divZ. We are aware that there has been done some bad decisions regarding team placement and player additions, and we are looking in to how we can manage that better in the future.
So, what do you prefer? 3 divisions? 4 divisions? more?
Feel free to write down your thoughts!

I think I might prefer the current system with 3 divisions. Div1 has just been amazing this season with lots of close games. With 4 divisions I guess some of the clans would have to step down to div2, which would suck! Also with this big divisions you get a lot of games, and as we all known officials are way more fun than pracs!

But of course it also depends on the amount of teams signing up. If we would get 10 more clans for next season 4 divisions would probably be better, but maybe that's only a utopia :E If we instead would get about 10 less clans, I think 4 divisions would more or less be impossible.

I think the goal should be to have a certain amount of teams per division. If that means 2-3-4-100 divisions is not important.
Trying to adjust div-size to allow certain teams to climb above or below the bar just creates artificial skill-gaps that makes the transition between divisions harder.

Keeping three major divisions seems to be the best solution, but maybe be open minded to have a rookie div as well if / when theres enough rookie teams signing up.
edit: It is also nice with large divisions, to get some diversity in the games. Always nice watching an underdog perform well vs a monster team :-)

Yeah, a rookie div is always good and I think it's enough with just 4-5 teams (and maybe two games against every team?) to make it fun for the newcomers, and to make them improve.
Then we have to make one private division for CCS so they don't get an unfair placement :E

I support big divisions because officials are the only prac we get, though it seems some teams rather leave even those unplayed.

Are you referring to Slackers Blaze? =)

We still have 3 games unplayed and it's the last week.

At least for our division the three divisions paid off and a lot of games have been played so far. A number around 10 to 14 clans seems to be a good value. Just don't be scared about misplacements too much. You'll never achieve absolute equal divisions, since there just aren't enough clans left.
A rookie division might be worth thinking about, if there are enough rookie clans around of course.

Big divisions = more games. Hot stuff!

I liked EQL 9 more compared to EQL 10. So i'd go with 3 divisions. Maybe I'll try to get some play next season.

I find 3 divisions better, however someone SHOULD make a decision before each season. There were times when the skill spectrum was wider and we required 9 divisions, now it's kind of flatter and we can enjoy 3 divisions with many teams inside.

With the current skill range amongst 4on4 clans, 3 divisions seems about right. If 4-5 div0 clans suddenly appeared out of nowhere, you could make a strong case for 4 divisions, but that's obviously rather unlikely.

My opinion is that it is best to dynamically decide on the number of divisions once signups are completed (as happened this season). In general I think larger divisions are good because then you get more games and it increases the number of 'nice' games that "misplaced" clans can have. For example if you look at the bottom of Div1 there are some weak clans not in same standard as the top clans. But at least they have played some reasonable games against each other. If you moved some of those to div2, it would mean that any 'weak' clans left over in div1 wouldn't have much fun as all their games would be against better clans.
Or in summation, it is arguably better to have several 'misplaced' clans than just 1 or 2. Most teams in div1 are OK with the fact that they will get raped by the elite I think but maybe that wouldn't be the case if they didn't have some other clans where they can win maps off (tks/3tk/o/da etc)

I am extremely pleased with the number of played games in DIV1. next seasons might be crucial as more teams in DIV1 might get to the higher skill-wise levels....please, keep the same teams next season and we didn't mind the games where we lost with more significant frag gap. too bad I managed to play only 5 games with the TOP teams before my 1 month hiatus... :/

My opinion as a player in eql11: large divisions are better than small more games 1-3 inactive clans wont fuck up an entire division when there are like 9-12 clans left to play vs also: please can you guys, in as many clans as possible, try to stick around in the same clan for eql12 as well?
