Long time no seen.

Tried some qw yesterday on my new connection (com hem... Zzzz) and i can get pretty stable ping around 25-27, but the opponent player movement feels very jerky and lagged. Feels like its network related. Maby i could try go trough some qizmos?

I'm on windows 7, using 500 hz, in_mouse 3, Tft @ 75hz (might go for the 120 hz soon)

Any tips?

You can try adding cl_delay_packet 10 to see if the opponent still "jerks" (this increases your ping obviously) and if the problem is related to your connection/ping. If nothing changes then you should re-consider your fps values to match them with your refreshrate more closely (ie. 77/308fps vs 75/300fps or so on).

try one of these:
cl_earlypackets 1
cl_delay_packet xxx as renzo said
or new proxys; setinfo prx server.to.connect.com:28001 and then connect pangela.se:30000

Yeah, I had the "win 7 network lag problem", but its now gone.

I guess its just a matter of unstable ping then. I mean, I'm used to stable 13/25, but now its more like 26-30. Movement feels ok, but the enemys dont move smooth. No way around this I suppose, but it would be better with stable 39 than jumpy 26-30 Re re routing dosn't help since i ping the proxy unstable as well

I'm getting a new con pretty soon i guess, tele2. Hope its better

Thanks for the help.

The "latency fix" link, shows a different registry entry for TCPNoDelay of what i've seen.
Maybe this "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters" refers to XP

Anyway, games use UDP right ?
So these 2 tweaks should have no effect at all ??

"Latency fix" seems irrelevant, I can't say I have noticed such increases in ping with W7 (x64).

The MMCSS service fix can be:

1) useless: there will be no effect whatsoever (my case)

2) harmful: every sound that gets played gets static (fucu's case)

3) helpful: fps lagging/problems with sounds get fixed (xenic's case)

So if you have no problems that you can see of, don't change anything, as you might break things up. It all depends on the sound hardware and/or drivers with the MMCSS service.

Sometimes problems with sound could be some conflicting driver or hardware issue.
Try DPC Latency Checker
I get a "Current Latency" of 2 us without moving the mouse, no spikes. Moving mouse gets to 32

I used the latency fix and it works for me. But you have to remove MMCSS manually first form regedit, and THEN disable it from service, otherwise the sound gets messed up.

As diki wrote: "If and when you get lag spikes while playing just disable multimedia class scheduler from services (click start - run and services.msc). You can also remove it from registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Audiosrv and in the DependOnService remove mmcs just to make sure it's really turned off (start - run - regedit)."
