I think some of the old admins don't wanna run it again. Surely, if we get some admins that can just confirm games and handle W.Os, there should be good possibilities for a new season. Maybe you could contact Zalon if you're interested? I hereby volunteer

I can volunteer when it comes to clicking "APPROVE" on games reported on the website!
Edit: I also have webspace and possibility to setup the site if it's a crisis i think... www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

So who is in charge of Ownage? Zalon? Let's get together a team that can run it! Yeah one would like one of the official Ownage brains to take the lead if it's gonna be run under the Ownage flag in order not to drag its name into the dirt if it turns out shit. www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

Well, I didnt check the forum much lately, that why I didnt respond. The main reason, why I didnt decided if there will be a new season this year is, that whenever I run Ownage I was sooner or later be the only one who did the admin job. And I´m tiered of it.
When it comes to admin jobs, confirming matches is one of the easiest tasks. What really takes time is to kick players asses to get their games played. And thats a job, what I dont wanna do anymore.

My advice to people wanting a new tournament (of any description, not just duel) is to get off your arse and start organising one. Obviously you need some people to help with infrastructure (webhosting etc) but if you put some ideas out there (post a blueprint of your idea on the forum, with a request for some help) I'm sure some like minded individuals can come up with something.
Obviously if you want to be standing on the shoulders of existing giants like Duelmania/Ownage then you'll want some sort of input from the admin crew there, even if it's just to give their blessing and a few pearls of wisdom. But until somebody actually sets the ball rolling, not a lot will happen. If admins are demotivated (for whatever reason, I'm not saying that as a critisism at all) then they probably aren't going to be actively seeking people to take over the mantle, you need to come up with a plan and approach them.

The phptourney thing is missing just one thing to be perfect. That is some "scheduling chess", sort of, turn-based game. 1) match gets two players assigned 2) system asks the higher seeded player to propose a time and date 3) the other player needs to confirm or suggest different time and date Now if the match does not get played, admins can easily check in the (private) log of this "chess" game which player did not respond, for how long or what else went wrong. They can easily check how many "excuses" the player had in previous matches, etc. E-Mail, looking for someone on IRC, that is all more time-consuming, than just filling in a small form and clicking submit. And the admins don't have access to your email nor your IRC private queries. The system could also send email saying something like "you have 24 hours to respond to your opponent's schedule suggestion, after that you'll get one 'lazy ass' point assigned to you account". Blah blah, I know, there's no one to code this

Love it! Should be implemented for all tournaments Well at least those who doesn't have a locked down schedule for all participants, like Draft had.
