Hi, im rather new to QW, and I have a couple of questions for you all 1. Is there a site or something, somewhere, where I can find some good custom huds (if thats even possible) Would love a place with pictures of the huds I find it rather hard to see the timer, and my own health etc when playing. It all kinda blends with the background on many maps imo. And while we are on it, how do I install the huds etc.? 2. Is it possible to look straight up? I would really love that (I doubt I cant, but guessed it was worth a question) 3. What would you reccomend me to use on the false thingy for LG? 4. What are the most usual 1on1 maps, and where can I find some opponents to play (pref. Low skilled)? Cheers

1, http://gfx.quakeworld.nu/browse/hud/ + http://gfx.quakeworld.nu/browse/configs/ and http://www.quakeworld.nu/configs/ 2, Straight up? No 3, cl_fakeshaft 2 and cl_fakeshaft_extra_updates 0 - or - cl_fakeshaft 0.8 and cl_fakeshaft_extra_updates 1 4, dm2, dm4, dm6, aerowalk and ztndm3 - Those are the maps that are used in duel tournaments. For finding opponents easiest way is roaming the servers or coming on #qwrookie on QuakeNet

As a new guy, you might wanna start with nquake that already contains maps, bots, hud graphics, etc.: http://nquake.com/

You don't want that one, it's a 8bit software hud, get one of the 24bit ones instead.
Regarding installing them, you put 24bit hud files in this folder x:\Quake\qw\textures\wad
If there is a cfg for hud placement, you need to exec that cfg.
If you want to change skin colors and since you got nQuake do this:
teamskin "2_white" enemyskin "2_white"
r_skincolormode "5" r_teamskincolor "0 200 0" r_enemyskincolor "200 0 200"
That will give you green teammates and pink enemies, reverse if needed or change the colors to something you are more used to.
If you just want them solid without any feel of the base skin, you can just leave out the team/enemyskin part and set r_skincolormode 0 - If you want more detail from the base skin, set team/enemyskin to white instead of 2_white

It's played with timelimit set to 3 minutes. There are other such maps for practicising as well. I ain't got no time for this jibber jabber fool
