Now we only need a auto-demorecorder like the other games types Server admins should add "k_race_autorecord 1" to configs/usermodes/race/default.cfg (this will be the new default soon) There are some oddities with keeping the demos on the server - at the moment mvdsv deletes oldest demos first, but for race demos we would almost want it to leave the fastest records on the server (and also update the records file) but that's a level of integration between mvdsv and ktx that isn't there at the moment. In the meantime, I'd recommend (for race mode only): sv_demodir "demos/race" // store demos in subdirectory, stopping them from being deleted during normal sv_demoMaxDirSize 0 // stop these demos from being deleted It's up to server admins obviously, but race demos are relatively tiny (~30k) and are deleted as each record is overwritten, so it would be 30k * number_of_routes * 10. There's 39 routes supported at the moment, so looking at around 12MB max. We're adding a /race_dl_record_demo command to download the demos, but in the meantime when looking at a record, you can download the corresponding demo by typing "download demos/<demoname>.mvd" If you see a demoname for a completely different match (it just stores the last autorecorded game at the moment), then autorecord wasn't enabled on the server.

I actually had it already coded as far as I remember since I used that for the race contest, and only have the fastest races from each player who came to try it.

That's correct - sorry, to try to make myself clearer: I meant that if the race demos are in the same directory as 'normal' demos, and the size limit for the demo directory is exceeded (perhaps when about to record a 4v4 match), mvdsv will delete the oldest files first, whether they are race demos or not. So the concern would be that a race record that was set a year ago will have a record in the .top file but the corresponding demofile will no longer exist. Unless I'm wrong on that as well, but I can't see any code in SV_DirSizeCheck() that does anything other than oldest file first.

Thanks! eThaD = Lithuania, Stev = Ireland, ddk = England, KorniKorni = Poland, Medar = Finland, Milton = Finland, anni = Germany, dimman = Sweden, ganon = Sweden You have ddk down twice. I can't be 100% certain of the rest, and some of their names are too generic to know which one it is. For instance, DE4TH and eThad could be the same person, but there was also a Norwegian and an Irish player that went by that name that I know of.

That might be true, I haven't looked at the code for about 3 years and a half so I can't say for sure. The latest thing I remember trying to get in there was the multiplayer race (and getting pretty close to it) where people would race at the same time.

I've made a quick page to show the results from the race contest held on Anni's maps in 2012: http://quake.one/raceIt's a work in progress, I think I should be able to link all the demos and add some more maps... EDIT: All demos are available now, if you find an issue with one, just let me know.

Some self marketing: http://zhln.eu/uploads/race-demos.7z a link of some good runs on race maps. Hope it makes more people enjoy it, or even try to beat them (most are definitely improvable relatively easily)

edit: I am getting a Client crash @ race11-alpha2, tried running with MVDSV+EZQ2.2/EZQ3.0. "error alloc:BlockFull" edit2: I was able to load the race11-alpha1.bsp. Switched to spec mode to fly around as there was no startspawn to test the slide. :/ edit3: Do you care to put the .map file online aswell? For learning and sharing purpose?

yeah qw crashes when trying to play it. i like the idea of the map but i will also point out that your trickier "cooler" maps get less play than the more straightforward ones. still waiting for the 100% pure speed map that puts slide1 to shame

By the way, textures feel very weird: even when I reached 1200 speed, it felt like I was going 300.
