I'm gonna test it tonight. Looks promising! I actually started doing a similar slide map a year ago, but put on hold due to bad mapping skills. Looking forward to this. Join us on discord.quake.world

Here are some pics of my 2nd race map. I would like to know from you, how I should handle the new releases: 1. Let everyone test this new maps 2. Let only a small group test this maps 3. I keep them secret until the tourney starts and just release pics

it's entirely up to you, you're putting the effort in ;p as far as race maps go it doesn't matter all that much because most designs are already viable to try and race eachother on. what does factor in is making the maps too easy, making it that much harder to shave off time or invent an entire new line on it.
keep up the good work ;p

keep it in a small group (or just secret all togheter) with some pics here and there

Every map can be finished by noobs, it just didnt look that smooth

Every map can be finished by noobs, it just didnt look that smooth Consider that by default, weapons are not going to be allowed on the runs unless you tell me run is made to be done with RL. Add to that the fact that touching lava or slime disqualifies you for the run and you do have runs impossible to make for race newbies. In my humble opinion, it would be great to have some nice quality maps like those two but really easy to not fail, so that every level of racer can be addressed... Just my $0.02.

I don't get this... I'm a good bunny hopper in DM, but can't even get close to jumping some of these gaps (even in the noobie map). Am I supposed to be using a certain gametype or setting in Quake, or do I just suck at racing completely? I get up to about 950 speed when going down the ramps, but still can't even get about halfway across the water pit in the newb map...
I don't understand the parts with angles too steep to even stand on, either. Are there tricks I don't know?

I don't understand the parts with angles too steep to even stand on, either. Are there tricks I don't know? You need to achieve 1200+ speed to jump that water. And the ledges on the side are for you to SLIDE on... Have a look at this demo for example... http://live.qw-dev.net/dl/demos/race_deurk%5Bslide1_r01%5D_20110330-105708.mvd

I guess I just don't know much about gaining speed on slopes. I'm a pretty consistent bunny hopper in normal DM circumstances, but then again, DM maps don't have slopes or ledges like that.
