General info: I've gotten some questions about race toptimes on cuve.se servers lately, so i'll respond here:
Cuve.se race toptimes aren't lost (except for dm2 route 1 for some reason). KTX devs is just figuring out how to handle the problem that occurs with concurrent file operations. (In non technical terms: the problem with times getting lost or not being recorded)
The temporary solution they used was to make race toptimes port-specific.
So while they try to fix the issue I put the current top times on port 5. When the issue is solved, these top times from port 5 will be used for every port. Unfortunately that means that top times set on port 1-4 from now to the date its fixed will get lost.
Use port5 if you want your top time to be saved.
Bug the KTX devs (especially deurk) at #qw-dev if any Race-related questions!

another issue:
race_show_record_details gives you the wrong information about avg. speed, it's way too high.
slide7 is the perfect example where it says Final had avg. speed of 1800... when in fact you can't even get 1800 as max probably.
Been watching Ganon playing techslider now, his record details says he has avg speed of 1500... but i've been speccing him for 10 minutes and he only reaches 1500-1600 MAX in very short periods of time. the avg speed should be more like 1100-1200

Total bollocks theory here, but client speed only take into account horizontal speed, where record might take into account horizontal+vertical movement?

I think http://ktx.qw-dev.net/issues is the appropriate forum for the issues The information in the first post is outdated now. Race toptimes works on all ports on cuve.se, and also demo recording has been fixed a while ago. I just were unfortunate to update to a buggy version, but I guess thats the price to pay when you want bleeding edge software.

Driz is correct; You drop pretty fast on some of the race maps, and that accounts for the extra speed that the client doesn't show.

oh ok
that information is totally useless then. cant it just report horizontal?

Don't lose yourselves into deep analysis. Average speed calculation was wrong and has been fixed a few days ago.

seems like slide8 has gotten a new route with a checkpoint. since all the records are under 1 second (go back into tele and touch endpoint) perhaps those records should be deleted.

Yes, slide8 has been fixed

you can still cheat though, not like it was but you can get a time of 14s by going through some teleporters, no speedjumping whatsoever. a 2nd or even 3rd checkpoint might be needed. atleast 1 right after the lavajump and then another one towards the end should make the speed-route the quickest and probably only way to do that map.

It's an old slide map, not suited for race, but I'll add the checkpoints. Thanks for feedback.
