Hey guys.

Has been too long since I stepped foot in the QW scene, but a few days ago I started feeling the urge!

I downloaded the new nQuake client, but never managed to actually open the client. Nothing really happened but I could see it as a process in the task manager.

So I tried an old copy of the fuhQuake client with ezQuake installed from back in 2007 that I had saved on an external drive. That worked splendidly, so I tried downloading and installing the newest version of ezQuake, but then I just the message "ezquake-gl.exe has stopped working."

Is there anybody who might recognize this problem?

I have windows 7 enterprice 64-bit.
I also have a 23" LG 120hz monitor that runs 1980x1080 with 120hz if that might play any role in the matter.

Thanks alot!

Was about to ask if the QW clients really run on 64 bit, but you also state that your old Fuhquake runs so i guess it's not that if you fired it up on the same PC. :\

Welcome back however!

Thanks Ake!

Good to see you're still somewhat active

Anyways. Is there any restrictions on how old client you're allowed to play with?

What exactly did you do? Did you download www.nquake.com - installed it, and when it asked for pak1.pak you browsed to pak1.pak you have somewhere and completed the install - then started ezquake-gl.exe ?

Where did you install it? I remember there was some issue with installing nquake on desktop and it wouldn't work or something.

PS: Remember nQuake is not a client, it's a package containing the ezquake client and a lot of extra files/addons.
ready!

That's exactly what I did. At first I tried installing it to the pre-chosen directory "C:\Program files(x86)\nQuake" but it didn't work.
Then I tried installing it to a different directory on the desktop but I had the exact same problem. I do realize that nQuake is not a client, that's why I also tried using a the stand alone installer for ezQuake to apply to my old fuhQuake directory but I just get the error message.

Yeah It does. Never had this problem before. Just reinstalled my OS and updated all the drivers to the latest versions. I also tried running ezquake-gl as administrator with a few different options like compitable mode with Windows XP SP2 etc. Didn't make any difference. :S

Even if you wait some time (say, 2-3 minutes max)?

I waited few minutes, It crashed two times, but I didn't give up and tried to sart it again. It strangely worked now, and it's pretty weird. So you have to "force" the exe to make it work.
