I'm a pretty new QW player from the USA (Springfield, MO). Figured I'd introduce myself on the forums since I've been playing for 4 months now :p Most of the USA players probably already know me since I hang out on the USA servers all the time, so props to all I started playing QW on a whim, and now I'm addicted... It's the only FPS I've ever played online without a modem (I used to play netquake from 1996-1998) I've coded c and x86/arm asm since 1995 and am the enemy of anything object-oriented... I also like linguistics, anime, and lots of alcohol Good to be on board, I intend to stick around My system: nvidia gts 250 athlon 64 x2 5400+ sennheiser hdr 160 headphones das keyboard model s ultimate silent (cherry brown mx switches) razer orochi / ozone radon 5k (both mice) ozone trace mousepad

Hey, welcome! Always great to have new players join our little community. I've coded c and x86/arm asm since 1995 and am the enemy of anything object-oriented... Your experience with object-orientation wouldn't happen to be C++, would it? Nothing wrong with object-orientation in general as I see it.

Haha, awesome to know that we're all a bunch of drunks! :p Feel free to join some development of the client of your liking with your skills then I'm always up for it! I was looking at all the requests for ezquake the other day and was wondering, who decides what gets added and what doesn't? I wonder if I can just post a bunch of patches and someone will sort them out :p Your experience with object-orientation wouldn't happen to be C++, would it? Nothing wrong with object-orientation in general as I see it. I really don't hate object-oriented stuff as much as I say I do! I really just hate all the professors and teachers who are ruining their students by teaching them the "make your code so that other people can read it" thing instead of the proper "make your code functional, fast, and as efficient as possible" paradigm... IMO, good C++ code is better than good C code, but bad C++ can be much, much worse than bad C code. -- John Carmack Good to be on board! btw, my nick is svxs whenever I'm on IRC (usually #telefrag.me) ... hit me up!

I was looking at all the requests for ezquake the other day and was wondering, who decides what gets added and what doesn't? I wonder if I can just post a bunch of patches and someone will sort them out :p Best way is to submit a pull request on github, there we can discuss your changes, even comment particular lines, and eventually accept the patch by just a single click. Best start is to make your own fork of ezQuake on github (again, single click in their menu does the trick). ... instead of the proper "make your code functional, fast, and as efficient as possible" paradigm... What about "Programs should be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute." or "premature optimization is the root of all evil."?
