Hello
First:
Well I use an ATI 3850 graphics card in my system and I get unstable fps , I tried rikolls config off of qw.nu's config section and it seems to be fixed , but the thing is I don't really like his config and I would like to know what I need to change in my own to make it "ATI friendly" so to speak.
Second:
I watched one of the FDE frag movies maybe FDE 1 ( not sure, was a while ago ) and I noticed the shaft moved around on the screen in an odd way unlike fakeshaft 0 where it moves from both the base and the tip, the only other game I know that does that is ultrono arena and I think CZM might have put that effect in because of inspiration from QW, I've also seen this effect on one of SSC's videos, one where they are at a lan on a match between SSC blob and some other guy and you see one of the players POV and the shaft does the same effect I'm describing.
Well to get to the point I would like to know if there is a way (command or something) to get this effect to work in one of the QW clients as it seems like an interesting thing to try and aim.
Thanks in advance.

2) Yes it does, I don't know how any other ATI cards act but I only have powerup glow enabled in qw and when I got quad or person with quad in my vision with my current settings I am able to hold 300 fps without any drops. With r_dynamic 0 I am able to have 800 maxfps without any hinges.
So if you are using rocketlight, rockettrail etc from my experience with ATI you sir are fucked.

Basically disable r_dynamic for testing as it's usually the biggest culprit for ATI+QW FPS problems.
Alternatively you can try my setup: http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=60672#p60672
Or checkout dithes: http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4959

Try to run quake with -nomtex command line parameter. It helped me with Radeon5770 and Intel #$@#%

It is an old bug, it happened with demos recorded as a qizmo observer.
