I can't strafe and move forward at the same time. Any ideas? I've tried different versions and they all do it. Sucks too, because it's so nice looking

weird problem, try with different keys
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

Its probably because of your keyboard, its definitly not a software issue with FTE

I agree, I had same problem with a certain keyboard. Probably not the client's fault.
