Hey,
I wanted to start mapping a bit, so for a start I decided to convert an old map that I love, and seemed appropriate for qw, cpm15.
I decided to keep it small, in a dm4ish sort of way, but it's fast and has loads of tricks. It's not that fancy, I tried to focus on gameplay first ( and I'm still struggling with texturing atm ).
Flintheart was kind enough to make me a .loc file, so you can even try it in 2on2 !

Ok, lets begin =D

the whole map is very small, infact its too small and narrow, maybe make the rooms a little bigger?
and maybe not have those ramps all over wich has more height than it is long ( i hope u understand me)

This room is very boring and small.maybe push the floor down a bit and make corridors at the ends leading to other room? nad remove the blue border and add a hole with the ra in it, so uhave to jump across to get it?

This teleporter feels out of place imo. better to just remove it, as u have 2 teleporters in the room next to this. Here i would remove the slope next to the tele ( to the right) and make the dark floor infront of tele the same height as the lighter textured one to the left.

This room here is too narrow to have a rocket launcher in it, one thing is that it is too narrow and it makes item placement very weird, so imo u should push the wall back almost the dubble lenght. This is quite important with the weapon placement, how the room is. you can have it narrow but then u need escape routes (check dm3) to make it more open and feel more open with a rocket weapon. Also if you make the room bigger you can put a spawn point in it also. Another thing with making the rooms a bit bigger is that you can place items a bit better so it doesn't feel out of place. Also if you study item placement you will then see if something should be there or not.

Ok i havent showed you everything in these screenshots, as i know u will make more builds. Anyhow, this room is too small. it should be bigger, and the gap between ya and the tele should be wider, and it should only be a lava pool there, wich should be quite deep so u cant swim up from it. Remove the ramps on the walls (all over the map, they are only in the way) secondly the texture in the door frames is scaled wrong. And on the right you got your ramps right? check, you have 2 ramps there, then one in the door frame, then 2 more n the other side of the wall. Its too many!!! =) as i said earlier remove some of them, and adjust the floor to fit with the other etc. And the tele there, make it into the wall or just normal for now, no ramp ontop of it =)

ok so this was just a taste, make some changes and i will have a look at it again.

Thanks Muffin ! I was working on a q3 defrag map theses days, so qw was left aside a bit. I'll work mainly on the ra room first, as it feels quite empty.

I've played it on a 2o2, it's quite fun to play, but it is so small than we cannot use a lot of strategies, just RL / GL flood and you win , or camp at Shaft and you have nearly map control...
