Hello!

Can some one tell me wich 120hz TFT can be used on HDMI or VGA?
My notebook gfx card dont have a DVI output.

I have readed, hdmi can only handle 60hz yet, maybe thats changed.
And if i can use 120hz on old VGA port i maybe need a adapter to get a VGA port on a modern TFT cause they only have dvi and hdmi?

That's a tough question. Getting 120Hz from VGA can prove to be difficult with 120Hz TFTs unless ran on lower than native resolution, so I wouldn't bet my money on doing that. You should probably do a google search about it, and maybe even send email to TFT manufacturers asking about it.

As for the HDMI and 120Hz, I don't think that's going to happen. You are most likely able to get 3d from movies and such but not real 120Hz support for 2d-modes.

You are in a really bad position here, your laptop should have either DisplayPort connector or then that DVI dual-link connector, and there would probably be no problems.

Some one suggested me a docking station, not all notebooks support this, mine for example not native but via usb, then i have DVI port!
Now its still a bit strange over usb, hope it will fit for my needs.

asus notebooks have only one docking station, and it will connect over usb... then i would have DVI. But some one told me, you can drop it cause USB wont handle the bandwith of 120hz DVI over USB....

I heard its possible to put a DVI Adapter on the HDMI wire, so i go out of the gfx card via hdmi and go into the screen via DVI.
Can some one confirm this?

ok, asus support answered, the dvi of the dockingstation is not able to handle 120hz DVI.
now i asked at benq about the possibilty to use a hdmi to dvi adapter cable.
also i asked the cable manufacturer about the possibility.

HDMI->DVI still sports the bandwidth of the HDMI, so you will not be getting 120Hz on this case, just not enough bandwidth.

As Renzo said, you're only as fast as your slowest link. Without a native displayport or dual-link dvi on your laptop, you are limited to the bandwidth of your usb, vga and hdmi ports. You will not achieve a digital link. You're likely looking at having to do some wizardry with your display modes on that vga port if anything.

The problem when wanting to attach a 120Hz screen from laptop via HDMI->DVI is usually that you only have one clock signal, so you need to use an active dual link DVI adapter that has electronics to produce a second clock signal. They cost about $130-150 though.

Most 120Hz TFT screens only support 120Hz via DVI.

HDMI just doesnt support 120hz.
