Lo boys. And girl :-) I dont quake atm, my .pl is so horrible no one want to play my jerky style ;-P Isnt that pleasureable either..
Any one in Stockholm(or anywhere) who thinks they could give an estimate on ping/.pl using 3g/4g mobile internet for the pc? (One of those small usb modems)
My cellphone gave me .pl ~10 a year ago wich sucks but was allmost playable, but now its close to 30.. (3g) Was around 5 pl 2 years ago i think.. Progress they call it.. Fkn appcrazed world :-)
I might get the new iphone 5(?) this weekend if i cant find a good deal(or any deal) on the nokia808. I think this is 4g. Can i use an iphone as a modem like with nokia, and would this be the same as getting one of those mobile modems for the pc?
Any help on this would be appriciated.
(dont want a "real" isp atm as im planning to move pretty soon)

Hehe, you can always try to use it. Afaik the iPhone 5 doesn't support 4G/LTE in Sweden since it doesn't have support for the channels/freqs we use. Expect something of about 80-90 ping and about 25% packetloss, so no not really usable. That's my experience. Should work in theory, but a lot of stuff "should work"

Perfect!
Really didnt want to buy an iphone 5 as i seemed worse then my old nokia, and the previous nokia.. No streaming, no fm-transmittor and a worse camera etc. Just that i wanted something simple if i couldent get an n808 for far price.
Will try to decide which 4g phone to get and see how it works then, sounds promising.
Thanks for the replys

Thanks for the replys No really, no matter which "mobile broadband" you choose in Sweden your gonna end up with a completely useless connection for QW. Doesn't matter if the technical aspects of the connection would in theory allow low latencies etc, in practice it works like shit.

There's a huge difference in theory and reality when it comes to mobile internet from my experience. Even if you happen to get a good ping I would doubt that it would be stable and you can count on having massive packet loss.

with wcdma i have seen pings around 65ms as the lowest and depending on how loaded the cell is, it might be stable. i would say u can play sc2 on that.
Lte could in theory give u sub 13ms, but atm i think you have to compare it with cablemodems in 97-98. it really depends on the load. so you might be able to play sometimes and sometimes not.
