Change #147
Several small midair changes to be more like ktpro midair.

"More like"? Gimmie a break! :-)
It has to be an identical 1-to-1 faithful copy of the KTPro midair.

Keep up the good work!

thanks for your opinion

IMO not good idea, cos u can somehow execute server.cfg after mod initialized, so u get overwriten values in the serverinfo after this. I think better is to put this to server command line, so this will be set once at server startup.

Or may be just remove this warning from server?

maybe make the mod load before server.cfg is executed?

no, mod needs settings before load.

added information on where to get the ktx ctf files and where to put them in the ktx guide

also updated the ktx server files, now rcon is NOT encrypted by default - seemed to cause a lot of confusion, and it's also not supported by fuhquake.

How do you check the installed ktx version?
Cause I see 1.29 version with changes 154... not sure what version has what?

im not really getting what you mean there deurk

if you see v1.29, you either have v1.29 OR a beta version with later changes.

people can always elect admins

if you want to remove that possibility (and then also eliminate any possibility anyone might want to use your server) change this:

set k_allowvoteadmin 0 // (0 = do not allow elected admins, 1 = allow elected admins)

Hi,

I dont know if someone has announced it before but i realized a telefrag bug in 1on1. I played on a 1.29 KTX server and everytime a telefrag happends both died! So it ends everytime in a double telefrag.

i'd like to see that in a demo

both players going into a teleporter, fine

but someone standing on a spawn point and the spawnee getting telefragged when he spawns?
getting telefragged when telefragging someone in big dm2?

doubtful

oldman's map folder rsync suggestion got me thinking about something

what about a KTX+MVDSV rsync?

mvdsv
ktx/qwprogs.qvm
ktx/ktx.cfg
ktx/mvdsv.cfg

servers could be kept up to date

pwd.cfg
vip_ip.cfg
name.cfg
server.cfg
usermodes/*

these configs would be read only so the rsync files can't overwrite them

this would mean servers we don't have much access to could be kept up to date...?

am I missing anything?

you don't HAVE to upload buggy/untested mvdsv/ktx builds

you CAN wait until they are stable and tested.........

Does updating mvdsv and qwprogs.qvm need a server restart? If yes just replacing the files won't have any effect.

I'm not sure if "restart" command enought for "full restart". Best solution is:
1) replace qwprogs.qvm and mvdsv executable
2) rcon quit

If you just replace files - it will take no effect. May be only for KTX upgrade it enought. For KTX upgrade "restart" command is enought too.

P.S. What about official "startup" scripts for mvdsv? At least for *nix`ez. For win32 there should implement ability to run mvdsv as service. I dont know WinAPI (and everything realted to windows-programming), and do no want to know it. In case of *NIX-like OSez this way pwnz:
1) "startup script": {run mvdsv and make a pid-file for it}
2) "check script": {every 10mins cron checks is this PID alive, if not - delete pid file && run "startup script" if alive - do nothing.}
In case of dead server it's also may be usefull to write some message to admin, etc.

So if you do "rcon quit" - server will be restarted in 10 mins. If it crashes, it will be restarted in 10 mins and admin will be noticed about crash.

ktx.quakeonline.net:27500 always got the latest build (as soon as I spot a change...).
I can provide a rsyncd mirror for mvdsv and ktx if I'm provided access to them.

Well as I am now on the MVDSV team I can take care of that one, but I would still need to get a rsync feed from KTX.
