This Sunday 24th February it's Quake's 17th birthday and as i already wrote on the
Facebook page it would be cool if we could get as many people as possible to play this day. I said 18.00CET as "start time" in the post.
Of course people should play more on a regular basis, but with an occasion like this, perhaps the odd oldtimer will come back and some new peeps peek in. Spread the word.
Feel free to post any Quake cake pics in this thread on Sunday btw.

There seem to be a death32c server up at quakeworld.fi so that's a possibility at least.

QTest is not Quake!
June 22, 1996 was the shareware release date. Most people consider that the birthday. Big websites consider that the birthday. So I would say that is the birthday.

True, but it was the first planted seed of what has today turned into the QuakeWorld that we play today! (and the date is so much better
)
However, if this is extremely inappropriate then perhaps i should rethink. I saw the Quake Live FB (which is probably steered by ID Software themselves?) also used this date once.

I second this. A good ol' feast on death32c ... I haven't played that since late 90's!

HAH
I still have some demos recorded by Scary in 1997. One was commonly used for benchmarking in the early days (Bigass.dem IIRC).
I shall post it here later. Ice storm to deal with now.
